Where’d my steps go?

Yesterday 8/31/19 went over 80k steps.  Earned this “futuristic kicks” badge, which is still present on my profile. But today 9/1/19 when I check yesterday’s totals I’m missing 20k steps, dropped from 82k to 62k.

Here is what it shows my step count as today when I check the app.  Even though it clearly shows I earned the 80k badge.  What’s with the roll back??
