Why does GPS turn off after I turn it on?

Hi all,

I have been having an issue with my Ionic's GPS. Yesterday, approximately 30 minutes before my run, I turned on my GPS. Sometime between then and when I started my run, my GPS must have turned off, because I have no "map" of my run. This is not the first time this has happened before. When it happened before, I caught it or noticed it, and managed to turn it on AGAIN right before my run. I just didn't remember to yesterday.

I have tried turning on the GPS via the FitBit Dashboard on my PC to no avail. Even though it says ON right now on the dashboard settings, the GPS on my FitBit says OFF.

This is incredibly annoying, and I noticed that this only started happening with the FitBit 2.0 OS upgrade.

Is there a fix for this?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware that you can turn the GPS on independently of starting a GPS-enabled exercise (Run, Walk, etc) in the Exercise app. You can globally set whether the GPS is available, but it does not turn the GPS on for constant tracking. In fact, I've noticed if I launch a run within the Exercise app, it shows Connected and if I do not "Start" the run within several minutes the Exercise app exits and GPS disconnects.

That must be what is happening. I guess I can see why it's like that, but it seems a little silly to have the option to turn on the GPS via the FitBit if it's just going to turn off in a little while. It's not like this feature is even mentioned or explained anywhere.
