Why my calories are dropping after syncing?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi all,

I've noticed that my watch says "1000 burned calories" and then, when syncs with my phone the app updates the calories burned to 1000 for couple of seconds but when it finishes up it heavily decreases to 800 burned calories in the app and also in the watch.

Note that, the number above are examples... It happens everytime I sync with the phone.

How come calories been "downgraded" if is marked as burned already ?

I'm using a Google Pixel.

Cheers

yes I have done all of these things and I have even stopped using the Fitbit app after uninstalling it because this behavior is nonsense.  And I thought I was done.  But now the Fitbit seems to sync with PCs that it gets in range of.  how do I one hundred percent disabled my Fitbit from ever syncing with Fitbit servers ever again because it's fine offline it's just crap online and you clearly can't fix this.

Fitbit Dataam having this same issue as well. It’s been happening the past few weeks. Example. Yesterday before I worked out my Fitbit Versa watch said I had burned 1,480 calories. I manually started a weight lifting exercise on my watch and then an elliptical exercise. In the exercise log it said I burned 588 calories combined. However the Fitbit watch read 1,945 total calories. THEN I synced my watch to my Dashboard and the calories changed to 1,397 total. Here’s a quick review-
1,480 - before workout
1,945 - after workout
1,397 - after synced to Dashboard
**I took pictures of all this data and called Fitbit support today. After going through all the basic troubleshoot options, they gave me a case number and told me to sync my Fitbit watch to the Dashboard before my workout, then after my workout. I am supposed to call them tomorrow 5/17 for them to review the sync data, and go from there for a solution. I will post an update when I have one. If anyone else has an update please share! Thank you.

This is my Fitbit photos from May 15th. I will be taking more photos today with each exercise log as well.

Did you get any feed back from support? The only other posts offer wildly unhelpful advice

Hi,

After the one instance and multiple attempts at resetting (yes, it kept failing to reset; multiple error messages all at various stages, very frustrating) the fault disappeared though for safe measure I also wiped the app from all mobile devices and reinstalled.

Support did not contact me after the initial sorry you are having issues

There's no one at Fitbit capable of or willing to dig into this issue.  They don't care apparently and that's fine with me going forward.  What's not fine with me is that my Fitbit Ionic is somehow syncing with other people's mobile devices.  What genius thought this was a good idea?  It's not.  Please stop doing this.  Not that you will...

Dear Matte,

What has been done about this issue? Cause clearly there's a common problem when syncronizing on Google devices.

I hope you could help us all with this matter as if it's a fabric defect (as it looks like)  it would be cover by the company guarantee.

Best wishes,

My Fitbit Charge 3 is having the same problem syncing with my iPhone so I believe this is a Fitbit problem. I’ve tried restarting my Fitbit, deleting app and reinstalling, logging off, etc. I expect some response from Fitbit!

I had a live chat w/support and was told they’re aware of the issue, they’re investigating it and “collecting cases.” It’s different Fitbits, all kinds of phones and Windows. It sounded like it was a recent thing, but now when I check the dates on the forum it’s been happening since January at least! What did you do about it? Was it just a fluke thing and did it go back to normal? Did you get a new Fitbit? I’m thinking of ditching mine for a Garmin.

Hi,

Back when I had the problem, I also encountered several error messages whilst trying to reset, it took about 4-5 attempts, once reset I then deleted and reinstalled the app. Since then I no longer appear to have the problem, however sometimes the graphs don’t align with the Fitbit (e.g. The graphs will show baseline but the counts will match those of the Fitbit so I still reach my goals as it where)

Sorry, I know how frustrating it can be; hopefully the bug will be fixed soon as, I’ve had a variety of Fitbits since 2014 without incident and my brother is a Fitbit convert from Garmin as they too suffered issues, so unfortunately no tracker is perfect.

Hi! Does anything know if this issue was ever resolved? I am a relatively new use and noticed this happening as well. It happens almost every time i sync with the app. My calorie count gets cut in half nearly every time. For some reason, calories burned during a workout are not lost/altered, but the daily data is.

I just started having the same problem.  My Charge 3 will say I have, for example, 1700 calories & 70 active minutes.  When I synch, it changes to 1600 calories & 50 active minutes.  I have the latest version of the app on my android phone.  I reset the Charge as well a the phone (turning off bluetooth, etc - per instructions) & I still have the same problem.  This is really annoying.

I left Fitbit for Garmin because of the unreliability of Fitbit devices.  I only came back because Fitbit was offered, basically for free, to us at work.  Not happy I did!

Hi,

I have switched off all day sync, and that appears to keep the issue at bay; however that means you no longer get texts so might not be of benefit to you.

I did the same.  When I first synched, the dashboard on my phone matched my device.  For a minute. Then it changed.

Hello,

I am experiencing the same thing. I even get the 3000 calories alert twice in the same day sometimes. Once during exercise and the second sometime after syncing after the calorie count is decreased then building back up again normally.

I sync with strava.

I’m having the same problem with my iPhone and FitBit, my calories burned and active minutes decrease... today it’s decreased by 600 calories and over 200 active minutes. I have linked my Fitbit to my Strava account and when I record an activity in Strava (because it estimates elevation) it affects my dashboard values later in the day when I sync. Very frustrating! It’s hard to record as it doesn’t do it every time.

Very interested in if anything can help resolve this issue.
