Wife's Ionic tracks different data than mine

My wife and I got our ionics at the same time did all the correct setups for each individual and everything seemed ok. We would go out walking together and our steps would differ slightly but we put that down to height and stride length. However recently we have noticed the difference is getting significantly larger. We did a hike today with GPS on and i registered 6.7km which would be pretty much spot on but my wife's ionic only recorded 5.6km despite the map showing exactly the same walk. Last week we did a 38km walk without the GPS on, sure enough my Ionic recorded 38.2km but my wife's only registered 26.8km. Anybody got any ideas what might be going on?

Hey there @JascoMaski, thanks for stopping by! I'd like to clarify that it's normal that you see a difference when you are comparing your data with another person, this is because Fitbit trackers record your data based on your personal information (age, gender, weight and height). Another thing that you should take in consideration is that your tracker counts your steps when you are pushing a stroller or a shopping cart, but because your hands are not moving your step count may be lower than usual during this activity.

Also, keep in mind that it's possible to get different readings if the trackers are worn in different locations (dominant vs non-dominant wrist). I'd recommend reviewing the accuracy information provided in this post

Once you guys have reviewed it, please try this step accuracy test (do it individually):

1. Put your wrist-based tracker on your wrist or put your clip-on tracker on your hip or torso.
2. Walk 100 steps, making sure to count a step each time one of your feet hits the ground.
3. Pause, then check your tracker to see your step count.

By default, we calculate your stride length using your height and gender. If you have Fitbit Blaze, Fitbit Charge 2, Fitbit Ionic, or Fitbit Versa and track one or more runs using GPS, we evaluate that data to automatically update your running stride length. For best results, run at a comfortable pace for at least 10 minutes.

If your distance measurement seems inaccurate, follow the steps below to calculate your stride length and then add it to your Fitbit account.

To measure your walking stride length:

  1. Go to a track or some place where you're sure of the distance.
  2. Count your steps as you walk across that distance, making sure you travel at least 20 steps.
  3. Divide the total distance (in feet) taken by the number of steps to get your stride length.

Your running stride can be calculated the same way if you run instead of walk.

Let me know how it goes!
