I have had an IONIC for almost 2 years. Up until now I have been pleased with its performance but lately the HR reading I am getting are ridiculous. I have restarted the thing and even done a factory reset but to no avail. It consistently give eme readings that are about twice my actual hr, (checked manually, on a BP machine and my Dr.). As a 72 yer old male readings of 160 +bpm are a tad silly and when chcked manually they are more like mid 70"s.
I have read and tried all the wrist positions etc etc. The thing even give s a readings when I isn't being worn! Just now I have have not been wearing it fr 30 minutes and it is giving me a reading of 160BPM.
Anyone else having this issue and know how to fix it?

Same problem. I’m a 70 y/o - when I exercise moderately the heart rate often doubles. The sensor must be double counting the pulses. Their algorithm needs adjusting.

Having had problems with a charge and two aria's, which I have to say were replaced free of charge by fitbit, I am beginning to think you are right.
Seems as if the useful life of fitbit products is about 18 months, even if the company does replace them the hassle is a pain in the arse.

I am having the same issue. it started about three weeks ago. My ionic will show my HR at 180 and when I check it manually its in the 50's. My ionic is a little over 1 1/2 Y.O. I have tried everything from restarting to updating and adjusting where it is worn. can I send it back to be checked?
