Will I still be able to use my Fitbit Ionic after it gets discontinued? The reason I ask is because the part where my ionic watch head attaches to the band broke (so I can no longer attach any band to that side). I LOVE my ionic and want to replace it with another ionic but hear it will be discontinued (I do not like the Sense) ...so should I buy another ionic?

@Scout123mh, the Ionic has already been discontinued, and is no longer available in the Fitbit store. Fitbit will continue supporting the existing Ionics, but it is unlikely there will be many updates to it as it ages.

I started my Fitbit journey with the Fitbit Surge and, I lived with it, but it was a love hate relationship, then it was discontinued; I upgraded to an Ionic and found it to be a far superior device to what came before. I strongly suspect when my Ionic goes Tango Uniform and I upgrade to the new Fitbit Sense, I will find it is everything the Ionic is, and much-much more. Long story short, the new generations of Fitbit devices always seem to be a wonderful superset of what came before.

I found great Ionic bands on Amazon. Of course, they’re not officially licensed, but the ones I found were great, if you’re still looking. One of my favorites was a G-Shock style band where the Ionic face pops into a 1-piece silicone case/band. It still functioned normally, and the band added extra protection from bumping your hand on a door or a chair

Thank you. This is good to know! I will check Amazon out!

G'day mate,
I totally agree. I've had a look at the Sense, but it looks so feminine, and I really wouldn't want to be seen wearing a girls watch. The Ionic on the other hand looks like a bloke's watch, and it feels just right. It's more masculine, especially with the steel band I got from eBay. I would really like to see a Ionic 2 with the updated options, and sensors, or at least a masculine version of the flagship watch. I definitely won't be buying a Sense. I wouldn't even wear it if it was given to me for free. I know that there would be some who would dislike the way that I feel, but I'm a bloke (a man - for the non Aussies) , and while it may not be politically correct, it's the way it is.
I have already picked out my next watch out, if Fitbit doesn't have a new man's watch available. Omron, who make blood pressure monitors, has a watch that is a medical grade blood pressure watch that also has fitness functions as well. It's not available in Australia yet, but it is coming soon, and it just might be on my wrist sometime soon
I'm actually not happy with the quality of some of the other models, and I'm already thinking of jumping ship, and when my Ionic dies, unless there's a masculine model available, I won't be buying another Fitbit. My wife has already jumped ship. I have bought her a Samsung watch for Christmas, as I bought her a Fitbit, and she's had it replaced 3 times under warranty, as it broke on her, and now her latest model (Charge 3) is on its last legs. The clock part can't be read anymore, the digits are just a series of dots, and lines. The other functions are still ok. The irony is that her watch is still under warranty, but it's too much trouble to get another one, even under warranty, as we already know it won't last long.
Sorry for the essay, but when I saw this thread, it annoyed me when I saw that my favorite watch has been dumped for a feminine alternative.
Cheers. ..
