Will Ionic ever get Fitbit connect support?

The Bluetooth sensor on my phone broke a week ago and I haven't been able to sync my Ionic to a mobile device. I download the Fitbit Connect app but it says it does not support the Ionic. Is there any way to get the data off my watch short of buying a new phone or tablet?

It's a bit of a strange situation using an Ionic with a computer. You need to use the app on a mobile device to set it up but once that's done you should then be able to use fitbit connect to sync. See the comment from one of the moderators in the following thread on this:

What computer are you using? If you are using Windows 10 and your computer has bluetooth then you may not need to use fitbit connect as the fitbit app from the windows store should sync ok. If you are using an earlier version of Windows or are using a Mac then the app will not be available and you will need to use fitbit connect. However, fitbit connect will not work with the computer's bluetooth and you will need to use a fitbit wireless dongle which, unfortunately, does not come with the ionic but can be purchased from the fitbit online store.

As a temporary measure you could use a friend's phone. You would just need to download the app and sign-on and could delete when finished. This might be worth doing as fitbits only have limited memory to hold data between syncs. They can hold up to 7 days or detailed data before they start to hold the data at a daily summary level. As you have been having issues for a week already, you will already be losing some detail in your data.

Hey @pazzypunk, welcome aboard! Have you double checked that indeed, the Bluetooth on your phone is not working? I mean, have you tried to connect other Bluetooth devices to it? In the meantime, I'd like to know, what Windows model is your computer? I'm asking because if it is Windows 10 you should not have inconveniences to set up and sync your Ionic, however with Fitbit Connect, I can't guarantee that it will sync periodically, specially if your computer doesn't have Bluetooth integrated. Meanwhile, you can try the troubleshooting in this help article: Why won't my Fitbit device sync.

Thanks so much for your help guys @Rich_Laue and @SteveH!

Let me know how it goes!

I have a mac. Yes I am sure by Bluetooth receptor was broken on my phone. I have had other fitbits in the past but I was not able to find a dongle and test that solution.

Ultimately I replaced my phone and was able to start syncing again through the mobile app. Thank you all for chiming in.
