Will Ionic track Kitesurfing?

Hi!

I'd like to know if it's possible to kitesurf with the fitbit ionic in terms of: can it record distance and speed in the water? (I know it is water resistant)

Thank you!

A warm welcome to the Community @LisaLescrauwaet. Thanks for the details mentioned.

Your Fitbit Ionic is swim-proof in a lake, pool or ocean up to 50 meters. However, your watch won't track distance or speed in water. As an alternative solution, you can try using another workout that will track distance.

If you would like to see this feature in the watch, you can post your idea in our Feature Suggestion board, those are reviewed by our team and the status will be given based in Fitbit's plans.

I'll be around if you need further assistance.

Not sure what you mean @SilviaFitbit with "does not track distance and speed in water". This is true if you select swimming as activity but not if you select another activity type.

However I suggest @LisaLescrauwaet not to use the Ionic in the ocean as the reports of failed units due to water infiltration are very common for the Ionic.

Great to see you around @Giampi71. Sorry for the delayed reply.  I meant that Fitbit Ionic won't accurately track this distance because he will be doing another activity.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hope I can continue seeing you around.

I understand this is an old question but wanted to contribute to the community.

I've used the Bike mode while kiteboarding: it tracks GPS data, speed, heartbeat levels, but it shows the total travelled distance as 0.

The GPS data can be exported and used on Relive or other apps.

I wish Fitbit starts supporting kiteboarding soon.

Cheers,

Zéca
