Will be a new firmware update for Fitbit Ionic?

I just wanted to know if they have any plans to up date the firmware. Like they have with s health where it can count the steps with the phone in your pocket.   Because I noticed that the fit bit isn’t as accurate as the s health

Welcome the forums!

No one knows this until they make an announcement

Hope to see you around!

A step counter on your wrist is going to differ from a step counter in your pocket. It would be a surprise if they never updated the firmware again.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @doggey, hope you're doing great today!

We don't have any information available at this time. When an update is available you'll see a notification in the Fitbit app prompting you to update. When the update starts, a progress bar appears on Ionic and in the Fitbit 68 app until the update is complete.

We make free feature enhancements and product improvements available through OS updates. We recommend keeping Ionic up to date.

Sometimes, when you start walking you may notice that your steps may not update on your device right away. After about 10-15 continuous steps, you'll notice the steps catch up and start updating in real-time with each step you take.

To get more information about this, check the article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?

I know you've done this, but if after taking these factors into account you still think your tracker is significantly undercounting or overcounting steps, please try a step test:

1. Put your wrist-based tracker on your wrist.
2. Walk 100 steps, making sure to count a step each time one of your feet hits the ground.
3. Pause, then check your tracker to see your step count.

Thanks for your support on this topic @jwebb72 and @WendyB!

If there's any questions present, let me know.

I imagine since the Ionic, Versa and Charge 3 share the same functional hardware and OS, I'm pretty sure the Ionic will get the same OS update. The Versa and Charge 3 are brand new, and the Ionic is still the flagship, I can't imagine that support will be dropped until the Ionic is EOL.
