Won’t ever buy a Fitbit again

Had the ionic for 7 months. Won’t sync. Won’t connect to WiFi or Bluetooth. Spent over 6 hour myself trouble shooting. My wife spent 2 hours trouble shooting. Called Fitbit and it’s a known issue and they kept putting me on hold for an hour. Called again and same thing only this time they say they won’t warranty it because I didn’t buy from someone on their retail list. I bought it brand new in a sealed package.

I won’t waste another dollar on them. Plus so many other unhappy customers as far as the ionic goes.

Apple Watch here I come. Thanks Fitbit for helping me with my decision.

Well when one company screws you over you don’t stay with that company. You try another. Unless you happen to have a better idea.

And if that’s just what you’ve heard that’s a different experience. I’ve actually experienced it.

@Spartancrofton Just a note for you, my friend has a Apple Series 4. We run together often. He loves his Apple S4... and he jokes... it is just like your Ionic, only it works all the time and I can order a pizza before I get home.

I feel your pain with the Ionic, I am on my third... and it don't work as advertised, never has.

When you see the same complaint time after time and you experience it, I am just waiting for this one to crash like the others... and I will be switching also!

I loved the ionic when it worked. Did everything I needed it to but when customer service is crappy it’s time to move in. Thought about Garmin but I have an apple and I know they spend time trying to make things right.

This. Haven't seen much movement/improvement from Fitbit since they released a whole bunch of new products **without seeming to first address the current products' issues**. Hate to think it's "all about the Benjamins, baby" but unless we start to SEE otherwise, what else should we believe?

True. Apple watches are expensive but hope it’s worth it.

I am dealing with the same issue. I bought my first Ionic the last day of February 2018. it stopped working in December of 2018. Fitbit sent me one because it was under warranty (cool, maybe it was just a lemon). Well, the replacement stopped working on 7/8/2019. I contact customer service and they tell me that they will only give me a 25% discount off a new fitness tracker since mine is out of warranty. I asked how they thought it was ok for a 300.00 device to not even last a year and the replacement to barely last 7 months, the response I got was this. " Almira (7/10/2019, 10:09:41 AM): As for that, there are outside factors that are out of our control as the manufacturer and I'm afraid that we can't pinpoint the cayuse. Also, you've already done all the troubleshooting steps that we can provide you and it seed that the device is still having the issue." So it was a pretty good indication that that they do not care. I am also looking to a new brand to fill my tracker needs.

If anyone is interested in seeing the full convo I had with their CS Rep, I will post it.

I have had it with Fitbit, as well. I've been with them for 4 years and have been treated pretty poorly with the Ionic. I loved my ChargeHR and Surge. I only switched to the Ionic so I could control my music on my iPhone. As soon as I tried doing that, my Ionic started losing time. They have told me to go through all of the troubleshooting steps, which I have, and nothing works. Even after I say that I've done it all, another mod will come along and tell me to DO ALL OF THE STEPS AGAIN. It's frustrating. Before this past year, their support team was amazing. I never had any issues. Now, I have to wonder if they are all bots.

Rawrbyn,

Its funny you say that about the mods!! It seems that each time my trackers have messed up (Blaze/Ionic) it was after an update with major changes!!! I just think it is terrible that they are not willing to admit their mistakes and stand behind their products!!!! Or they are using updates as the method to send a "kill signal" to our devices just outside warranty in order to make us buy new ones! I agree 100% about how the customer service has gone down hill. I think they may bots as well.

Well so far zero problems after two months. I like it better. Wish it had a better battery life but other than that it’s better than a Fitbit. Thanks

Well sir. Two months in on the Apple Watch. Love it so far minus the battery life. Also no sleep tracker but oh well, I sleep like crap anyhow. Hope your ionic is still holding strong for you and I did like mine.

Take care

I think is has to be about money. I loved my ionic but the service. They had no desire to help me. If they’d have made an attempt I’d be using it today.

I loved the ionic too but for some reason I was biting 4,000 cal a day. I also had triple the steps and other fitness goals I thought I was doing.

I bought the the Apple watch and all of the sudden my stats are almost half for some tracked material. Odd

I’m with you in this one. Fitbit’s customer service was horrible for us buying their premium flagship product. We trusted them and they failed to deliver a quality product and good value for our money.

My Ionic died in less than 2 years and the best they wanted to do was 40% off a Versa lite.

Not good enough. Bought a Garmin Vivoactive 3 instead. Time to vote with our $$$$ if they fail to listen. And they have.

How do you find your new Garmin?

I'm so miffed right now. Seems they have grabbed the sleep monitoring and made it premium.

I refuse to pay for a feature the product was sold on.

Dam disgraceful.

While browsing the forums I came across some posts where the writers claimed that they want to up grade to newer trackers but their previous older Garmin just keeps going.

So I looked at their products, and there are so many, so I went for one that’s mid-range in price with the features, for example, sleep monitoring and gps built in.

This way I get to learn all the features of the Garmin and if it isn’t reliable like Fitbit’s Ionic I am not out too much money. And if it is good and reliable then I have a decent tracker for a number of years.

The VivoActive 3 appeared to fulfill those criteria.  So far so good. There is a learning curve but at least I have a tracker for my OCR tomorrow.
