Workaround for problems without factory reset

Hello,

I must say that i think i am one of the lucky people, that don't have real big problems.

But as most, i have also a few minor problems, and found a few workarounds for almost all my minor problems, so i decided to share them so that (hopefully) others also can solve them this way untill new updates arrive.

First i have to state a few things:

1) i use Android, so it may not work or not be possible on iPhones (i don'have one).

2) I do not use GPS on the watch.

3) i do not have music on the watch.

4) I get the impression that Samsung has some troubles with Ionic, and i don't have a Samsung Smiley LOL

5) my phone is rooted, but it should not really matter in this case.

OK, now to my workarounds.

I do sometimes have trouble with syncing, with notifications, with bluetooth disconnections that won't reconnect etc.

After reading a lot and trying some stuff, i found that Force Closing the Fitbit app and restarting it, solved almost all my problems. But if i did not knew that there was a problem (no sync, no notifications), i could not solve it.

So i use the app Tasker on my phone. This needs a rooted phone, but there are other apps that can do simular actions (profile apps). See some links at the bottom of this message.

In Tasker i made a profile that checks if the Bluetooth is stilll connected to the Ionic watch (if i walk away to get some coffee for instance)

If not connected, it waits 1 minute. Then force closes (kill) the Fitbit app, wait 5 seconds and starts the Fitbit app again.

If i am already connected again, it will start syncing again in less then a minute due to this kill action.

Sometimes the connection (BT) is not back yet, and the app forces it to start the BT connection again.

If the connection is not yet back again, it again waits a minute, kills the app etc. It does this untill the BT connection is back again, even if i am disconnected for longer times.

The longest i have been out of connections and sync is 10 minutes, due to the cycle of actions.

But i am almost always connected and have sync, due to this Tasker profile.

After about a month using this i only have had to soft reset the watch once (left button and lower right button), because it did not sync an hour or 2.

As i already stated in the beginning:

This way may not be any help to you, but you could try it and see if it solves a few problems.

Mainly the killing/ForceClosing of the app solves a lot of the minor problems for me.

And by killing only when disconnected BT, it will not kill the app when it does try to sync.
