Did you mean:

Your fitbit is busy communicating to another device

A friend gave me her fitbit ionic. I successfully made a fitbit account and connected the Ionic to my laptop. But then, I realized that it would not successfully pair with my phone. I tried the following:

Unpaired from laptop and turned off laptop bluetooth.

Fitbit 'reset'

Turned off phone bluetooth and back on  (tho the fitbit doesnt ven show up in the phone bluetooth list)

shut down the fitbit and tried again.

turned off phone and back on again

Removed the ionic from my laptop account and tried to start over from my phone.

Repeated ALL of the above steps ^

Then, I decided to give up and resign myself to a life of only using the fitbit connected to my laptop..... until I realized it now wouldnt connect to my laptop either.

In a true fit of desperation, I factory resent the ionic.

Now, the fitbit wont connect to any device, and wont leave the factory reset multi-language 'welcome' screen. When I try to start the setup process, my computer gives the message in the image: "Your fitbit is busy communicating to another device."

And yes, my friend was sure to remove the fitbit from her accounts, although she is certainly out of bluetooth range, as she lives multiple states away from me.

Any ideas?

@cmatt5 Welcome to the Community. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for taking the time to share the troubleshooting you performed prior to posting.

Since your Ionic is showing the fitbit.com/setup, I would like you to follow the steps mentioned on this article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device? . Keep in mind that you will need a compatible device to sync your watch, if you're using a computer, confirm you have all the requirements on it.

If you continue to experience difficulties, please let me know the phone model/computer you have.

Keep me posted! I'll be around if you have any additional questions.
