@kscern  did you also see the starting price of these units? Estimated $699 for the basic unit.

To be honest, I only scanned the article. It seems a lot to ask of one device to do so many things and to do it well.

odd reply, you could say that about mobile phones and yet they have replaced so many other devices in my life: stopwatch, camcorders, our Nikon camera, iPod, laptop from time-to-time, resting heart rate reader, etc.

The oxygen monitoring is only the 5X Plus, correct? Also noticed that they are marketing the sensor more as fitness related rather than health (sleep apnea).

Still the on watch mapping looks incredible.

@WavyDavey yes, pulse oximetry on 5X Plus only. If you read only one thing, go to the Pulse Oximetry section of the DCRainmaker's review:

https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2018/06/garmin-fenix5-plus-5s-5x-in-depth-review.html#pulseox

following the discussion of pulse oximetry to support safer climbing in the high mountains, he goes into a discussion of FDA certification which applies to Fitbit and other companies that are part of the FDA pilot program to fast track apps for medical use.
