fitbit Ionic weak wifi connection signal

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

When I try and download a clock face. it says it needs wifi to work from the watch. The problem is that I cant get the watch to have a strong signal connection to my router. Even if I place the watch directly on the router. my phone connection to the router wifi signal is strong.  the watch isn't. I cant seem to get it to work. I've rebooted the watch with no luck. Wifi with this watch has never seemed to work. It had to switch to Bluetooth even when I did the first setup of the watch.

@Musictrek Welcome to the Fitbit Community! What clock face are you trying to download? Is it a large one (size)?

Please do the following:

  • Go to one of the large clocks listed.
  • Begin an install.
  • As the install begins back-out of the clock install page.

Then, let me know if any of these happens:

  • Clock install fails.
  • Sync isn't behaving properly.
  • Mobile App will say "Installing apps..." where the sync button usually is.

Alternatively, as you already restarted the watch, please plug it into the charging cable with a configured WiFi network present (your home, I guess), and try to download the clock face while your watch is plugged in.

Also, could you share a screen shot of the "it needs WiFi to work from the watch" message you are getting?

Mine never had a good signal. I even updated my router to see if that helped and it didn’t. Third party clock faces that don’t use Bluetooth for download won’t load on my ionic

Did there ever come a solution to your problem? I can't connect my new Fitbit of today to my WIFI network too...

I have a Fitbit Ionic since January 2018. It’s my 4th now, during my warranty of 2 years. I hope this one lasts much longer. Updates are dangerous!
