From the Fitbit dash board, select Settings (the gear icon)

Then, in your personal settings (not the device settings) scroll about two-thirds down to Clock Settings. It provide two options, 12-hour and 24-hour. Select 24-hour.

Once this has been done, It's been my experience that all time display will use the 24 hour clock, not just particular watch faces.

Get a clock face that allows that. Go to the App Dashboard and click on the Account Icon at the upper right (looks like a page) and click on Ionic and then Clocks and then All Clocks. There are hundreds of possibilities.  Here is one I saw using 24 hour time:

Thanks, I’ve downloaded all the clocks showing a 24 hour face, as the previous answer had said, and they were all showing only 12 hour clocks, I was very frustrated u too I saw your reply, cheers 👍

Thank you very much, bmw54. I really screwed this one up.  What is really bad is I'm aware of that setting and it completely slipped my mind when answering Himnx.

Himnx, glad you got it sorted with the proper answer from bmw54. I apologize for causing you extra trouble and grief.

Errr sadly, I haven’t, unfortunately I had checked your solution but they all just downloaded as 12 hour clocks, then saw the other solution and immediately thought great .... but that doesn’t work for me either as I can not find a gear for settings as described!! So still haven’t found an answer that works ☹️

Maybe you are looking in the wrong place.  Go to www.fitbit.com Dashboard and the Gear Icon will be at the upper right of the screen. Click on that and then "Settings" and you should find "Clock Display Time" with the 12/24 hour selection.

If you still can not find it, tell me what you are using, a phone or computer, and precisely where you are looking.

👍👍👍👍 Thank you to you both. I was looking in the app, rather than online. Did as you said and it is working beautifully. Thanks once again.

Great!  I suspected that.  Easy to confuse the two.

It is for me, my first Fitbit, just got it yesterday, so I’m easily confused 😐

HERE is the User's Manual.  I highly recommend you read it cover to cover and then read it again.  I've read it several times and still finding new items missed earlier.

Then you'd better fasten your seatbelt, there's plenty of turbulence ahead. Unless, of course, you plan on using your ionic for little more than counting your steps and telling the time.

I've changed the clock display time in my dashboard to 24hr and have just completed another sync, but the Ionic display is still on AM/PM time format.  Any other suggestions??

Here's how I would do it. At the fitbit website, dashboard, at the top-right of the screen is a gear icon (I've highlighted it yellow):

fitbit dashboard (web).JPG

Click the gear. This will give you your account settings. At the bottom are advanced settings:

advanced settings.JPGClick the downarrow across from 'Clock Display Time'. and select 24-hour clock.

If it's already set to 24-hour and your Ionic is displaying 12-hour clock, then you need a higher level of help. And a 'welcome to Ionic world' greeting.

Thanks...that is what I did and then I synced...nada...then I wrote the post...nada...then magically, about half and hour later I looked at my watch and it said 20:46! I don’t understand how Fitbit’s web portal, app dashboard and tracker communicate...seems overly complicated! Why can’t ‘simple’ things like changing time format be done in settings on the tracker??
Sounds like I’m not the only one who has yet to plumb the mysteries of Fitbit...

Great question. Fitbit has developed an environment composed of the tracker itself, the app on your phone (whichever model you might have) and the dashboard settings. Initially it's difficult to know which of these takes priority over the other and in some cases, such as running cues, certain settings you try to adjust always revert back to the factory default.

This seems to have helped spawn a semi-religious belief that all Ionic's problems will be solved by performing the two-button reset: once, twice or three times concurrently. And if that doesn't work, try the three-button reset.

Your Ionic probably took that long to sync properly.

Any ideas? When I go to the dashboard I do not see a gear icon

@Sybarite   You must look at your web (fitbit.com) dashboard, not your app dashboard.  The gear is in the upper right.

Thanks.  Not sure why that option  wouldn't be on the fitbit app.

I know that on some clock faces for 24 hour time to display, the app face developer needs to enable 24 hour time in their code - many don't. I only download clock faces that give me the option of 24 hour time display. Also, usually you need to select 24 hour time format on your phone as well. Or computer if you only sync via a computer.

I also requested 24 hour time with the developer of the clock face I use - Forecasttime.

There may be other parameters, but these work for me.
