iOS 11.3.1 - iPhone 6s - After removing Ionic, attempt to re-add it hangs on "Connecting to Tracker"

My ionic stopped syncing.  After several attempts and checking the forums for different solutions, I followed the advice of removing the device and adding again.

When re-adding (set up a  device-> Ionic -> Ionic -> setup -> accept terms -> "Before we get started" Next) the device is found (the app returns the "Found it!" message, but the app does not go past "connecting to tracker"

App is up to date.

I have tried the following:

-Removing other bluetooth devices (didn't think this was the issue anyway as the tracker is found, but, hey - I'll play ball)

-Turning off Bluetooth and starting it up again.

     -Trying a different network

     -Trying cellular

     -Restarting the iphone

     -Restarting the app

     -Deleting the app and reinstalling

-Just trying the same **ahem** thing over and over again in the hopes of Divine intervention.

The one thing I didn't try was restarting the device itself. So I figured "why not?"

Well, that did it. Ionic is now paired with my phone again,

Glad you're back up.

Restarting the phone and tracker is always the first two steps to try.

Removing the tracker from your Fitbit account is never recommended, except by those who dont understand .that telling Fitbit that I don't want to use the tracker will only add problems.

The user still has to fix the sync problem before they will be able to do the setup .
