ionic won’t connect to my phone

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My watch stopped syncing with the app and getting text/call notifications last week so I tried to unconnect my ionic and then reconnect it to the Fitbit app but I only ever get to “connecting to tracker” and nothing ever happens past that. I have tried deleting and redownloading the app, signing out and back in and forgetting the device on my iPhones Bluetooth but nothing has worked. What can I do to connect my watch back up?

Hello @Omelette and welcome.  Sorry to hear your having problems with your Ionic.  Here are some steps to check out, which will hopefully resolve your issues:

IPHONE OR IPAD

Syncing difficulty is usually caused by a missing requirement. Verify each requirement before moving on to the troubleshooting steps.

  • The Fitbit app is installed on a supported iPhone or iPad.
  • The latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your phone or tablet.
  • Your iPhone or iPad has a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection.
  • The software on your iPhone or iPad is up to date. To check, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • The Bluetooth setting on your iPhone or iPad is on. To check, tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  • Your iPhone or iPad isn't managing other Bluetooth connections.
  • If you use more than one device to sync, make sure the other device isn't nearby. If the device is nearby, turn off Bluetooth on it.
  • Your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.
  • The firmware on your Fitbit device is up to date?

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your iPhone or iPad.
  5. Open the Fitbit app.
  6. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart it.
  7. If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your iPhone or iPad and try to sync.
  9. This is a LINK to the Help page, where this information was retrieved.  Check here for further details:  https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1866/?l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1#phones

Please reply back if you need any further assistance.  Thanks and keep on STEPPING!

I've tried everything. It says there's no tracker connected to my account. What tracker? I've never set up a tracker before. Doing it on the laptop doesn't help coz you can only set up the Ionic on the mobile.

Same thing is happening to my Ionic 😞 googled why isn’t my Fitbit synching and it told me to take the watch off my account and delete and reinstall the app but now when trying to add my watch again it gets to a screen that says “tracker found. Connecting to tracker” which then stays like that for over half an hour. Help!!!!

Same issue! It says it finds the device and then spend saying connecting until it gives me the option to cancel or restart. Then it simply says that it is timed out. I have tried everything possible and nothing is working! I have a Motorola Z2 Force

having same problem.  have tried all the solutions offered but still won't pair with my iPhone xr.  If I do get it to pair, it doesn't stay connected.  Its bad when you have a watch that won't keep the time since it won't connect to your phone.

Sassy, that isn't a solution when you have to do it multiple times a day if you want to sync.

Please Fitbit...  Just fix this.  It is frustrating beyond words.  My Ionic only seems to be able to pair in the morning.  Works for an hour or two and then stops.

The worst of all of this is that there is absolutely no response from the company other than the same procedures to stop/start, reboot, remove.  You are doing a disservice to all your customers by keeping us in the dark like this.

My blaze still works and I have been forced to go backwards to that.  It's a shame.

Honestly I have been doing this for MONTHS for my Fitbit ionic. And now it won't been connect to my phone whatsoever. It finds the Fitbit and then says not working. My boyfriend has a Garmin that's years older than my ionic which he used to have an ionic as well but had battery issues within a year and a half of having it. I'm to the point where if Fitbit can't hold a quality product I'll be going to Garmin that actually has quality products last more than a year and a half. This is a joke for spending close to $300.

Having the exact same issues with my charge hr. I can get the 4 digit code from my tracker and enter it then it is stuck on connecting to fitbit if anyone suggests uninstalling and reinstalling or turning Bluetooth on and off, or turning off my phone and turning it on. I’ll scream!!!!!!!  I’ve don’t those steps multiple times to no avail. I’m ready to switch companies.

I have given up on the product and brand. Obviously they don't care about the people that invest in them. I purchased myself a Garmin watch and it's amazing the difference in quality and content compared to Fitbit. Best of luck but I suggest going to a different brand. Honestly anything is better than Fitbit at this point.

Ionic won’t connect. Have used for about a year, not fault free (as it sometimes requires the clock face changing to fix) but now have hit an unresolvable problem. Like so many other people I’ve tried resetting Watch, disconnecting Bluetooth etc. Clearly Ionic has a core fault affecting some watches. Choice is another Fitbit (not sure why I should reward failure) or another brand. Feels sadly ironic given the investment Google is about to make in Fitbit.
