"Connect phone" issue

When I press the left button, the screen displays "Connect phone Pair your phone in your Settings app, under Bluetooth"

The phone is connected on the Fitbit app. What do I need to do to use this feature? I have a Galaxy Note 9.

Have you been able to connect your fitbit with your phone at all? 

what does your bluetooth settings on your phone show?

I'm trying not to reset. I'm just trying to use the options available when you press and hold the left button. 
Even though my phone is connected and syncing information, my text messages aren't recevied and the Fitbit doesn't seem to think its connected to a phone.
