Just updated to the latest firmware today. While I am indifferent about being able to swipe up for the "today" app - IMO it has a significant flaw. Before I was able to re-order all of my "today" options and see ANY TWO I wanted at a time.
Busy getting steps? I could put STEPS and HEARTRATE right above and below each other.
Doing stairs? I could put heartrate and stairs visible at a quick glance (right next to each other).
Now the a single stat takes up the entire page! Yes I can swipe right and see the distance and floors together, but I want to see heart rate and floors, or heart rate and steps.
I see you can move these around, but now the Top level groups are:
Group 1 - Steps - Distance/Floors / Calories/Active Minutes (all part of one group)
Group 2 - Active Hours
Group 3 - Heartrate - Resting HR
Any of the above take up the entire screen!!! If you're trying to monitor your floors AND HR, you cannot do it without swiping. I need to be able to pull the watch up and quickly see where I am.
Does this make sense? Please can I revert back to the previous firmware? Or make the old TODAY available again?

That does make sense and I agree that it would be nice if we could change the sequence within group 1.
Perhaps you could create a feature suggestion for this at https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/idb-p/features
There isn't an option to go back to the old firmware or "today" I'm afraid.
Perhaps a way round the problem is to choose a watch face that has all the data we want so we don't have to use the today function.

Your lucky, after the update swiping up does absolutely nothing on my Ionic. I have no today available at all on my watch, swipe or app.

Only in today's world are we suggesting requesting a feature that we had 2 days ago and for the last 9 months.
Since my wife and I both have Ionics, what *I* did was swap devices with her last night. Yep, huge pain in the **ahem** especially with music on mine, but I own this device to help me stay fit. I'm not here to further their development life cycle and spend my life submitting already existing feature requests / work through their shortsightedness on forced change.
There is no perfect watch face that shows the stairs + HR as visibly as the former TODAY screen (both at the same time) or a simply swipe up/down to show steps + HR. You can find clock faces that show one or the other, but none as easily readable. This is a basic function IMO of the watch; to show my current activity. Having music playlists and streaming is great, but when core functionality is removed I have to question if anyone thought this through.

Mine is doing the same thing. No response swiping I at all

I can definitely try to design a clockface as you need. PM if you want to provide me some additional details.

I appreciate that. I view the face as something to use 24/7 as a watch / step counter. Then there's the modes I prefer when I'm working out, which I either use today or one of the exercise modes.
However if you're offering - the face I use the most is "ActivStatFace". To make it perfect, make the time a tad smaller and dark blue (or adjustable colors) and replace the calorie counter with # of floors climbed.
That would be amazing!

Something I'm not happy about with the new Today app is that it does not stay open. If I swipe down to view any of the screens in the Today app and then look again a few minutes later, it has reverted back to the clockface. Before the update, the today app would stay put and the scroll position the same until I hit the back button. It's a real pain to have to swipe down every time I want to see a screen in the Today app. Is there a setting that would disable automatic closure of the app?

I am happy I swapped Ionics with my wife. The whole key IMO to this thing was the fact it'd stay on any screen you set it on. What a pity.

Schinks, Unfortunately, there is not. Maybe that will be changed in the future.

I agree completely with you! the new OS 2.0 is a step backwards. I hope the fitbit development team in charge of this latest release sees this post and release a 2.1 update with the swipe right feature being brought back. the "new" swipe up from the bottom is a waste of time.
