setting up wifi on Ionic

I am trying to enable the wifi on my Ionic  but the ionic is showing as wifi off.  I have the ionic attached to my laptop by usb cable and my laptop is attached to wifi what am I doing wrong

Thank you so much for this post!  I'm in an airport for a few hours and wanted to transfer some music to my fitbit.  I knew that I couldn't use the airport wifi, but thought I should be able to use my phone's hotspot.  This post was huge help, as I was trying to use the Windows 10 app, where you can't add a wifi network. However, I used my android, added the network, then my Windows 10 app worked.

There are no three dots on wi-fi settings. The center has a perpetual spinning circle as it looks for networks but finds none.

Wifi is working fine. My phone is connected to wifi, yet this fitbit app can't find a wifi for some reason.

Have unpaired/repaired, unistalled fitbit ionic app/reinstalled it. I live in Canada. Without exception every time I go to the US, the thing stops working for days or weeks after returning to Canada. CAN'T EVER GET THE THING TO SYNC!!!! I have the thing in its charger at 100% charge and still can't get it to work.

Reset the watch a million times, rebooted phone, reinstalled. Every app/network/phone function I have works but this Ionic has to be the most frustrating device I have ever had. What keeps me? I have three years of data from my prior fitbit that I like to keep. Had this phone 6 months. Struggle every day to get it to sync. It is like a child on a tantrum. Have to be willing to wait hours or days on the off chance it will actually sync. Sometimes it does when I'm not even trying somehow, but not very often.

What is the trick to making this thing sync!?!

In reading my post, I want to be clear: My phone has no problems: I can sync with anything except this Ionic. I'm paired to it (and have paired and unpaired it countless times to get it to try and work). But the watch will not consistently sync to the phone app. And as I mentioned, traveling to the US is a death nail. Last time I went it took about three weeks, lots of lost data, visiting Fitbit vendors unsuccessfully and a ton of time to get it to sync. I don't know what finally made it do it.

I need a new trick. If the bluetooth is paired with my phone, how is it possible the watch won't sync?

Change the channel on your router to whatever one it isn't on, I think from
5 to 2.4. If that doesn't work, call Fitbit, they are very helpful usually.

i have an iconic. There was some app update and it stopped connecting. After some time of trying to get a wifi connection through the app. inc restarts and reinstalls,  i factory reset the watch. This worked.

Hi I still cannot get wifi to pair even with the bluetooth off.  I do have 5 GHz- is that still incompatible? In this case, how can I load music?  Can I use the Bluetooth connection.  Thank you.

Sorry I cannot help you. I do not have a 5 GHZ wifi and I no longer own a
fit bit watch.

Hi, I have just changed ISP now have a Mesh WIFI, can Ionic handle a Mesh Wifi?.....no luck so far with adding manually.

App responds with     Can't find device. We're unable to connect to your Ionic

OK disregard.I went away from the house for an hour of exercise, came back home and when I tried to add the Mesh Wifi the app found it automatically.  all connected now.  Yeah
