sp02 Sensor

Unfortunately another miss for FitBit. I see they've even removed the mere mention of the sensor in their specs. That's wise to stop falsely advertising. However, for us that bought the device with the expectation that it would eventually be enabled, it's still false advertising. This isn't the first time FitBit has done this. I bought the Surge when they advertised its water resistance as being able to be showered with. Then it couldn't even handle sweating without fogging. Then the spec disappeared. FitBit was nice enough to replace the watch twice, but seriously, why advertise something that isn't true or been thoroughly tested. It comes down to trust and credibility.

I haven't heard much about water problems with the Surge. Remember that 5ATM is a rating of 150 feet but in reality, only recommended to be used in shallow swimming.

As for the Spo2 Fitbit says that it is still coming but has not released a date. They have been working with an outside company to get this right. I forget the name but they are none for their wrist based O2 sensor.

Personally I feel they should have followed Apple and supply the sender without mentioning it.

@Rich_Laue . Thank you.  Regarding the Surge and 5 ATM, I had 3 that would fog up from just sweating on it.  The 2nd and 3rd one, I didn't even bother to try to shower with it, though it was supposed to be able to handle that.  The 3rd one died just putting my hand in 6 inches of water.

The only time the Surge experienced moisture was going to the gym and my workouts mostly consisted of the elliptical.  No swimming, no sauna, no jacuzzi, just the elliptical and/or weights.  All 3 Surges, the screen would just fog from sweat.

Thanks again for the info.

After having used a FitBit Blaze for almost 10 months I upgraded last week to the FitBit Ionic.

Works great.

Just to satisfy my curiousity: In the early days of the Ionic reference was made to apps which could actively use the SP02 sensor.

Seems that to this date this intention remained an intention 😞

Does anyone know whether or not we can welcome such an app in the weeks / months to come?

I'm sorry @SunsetRunner but as fellow fit it users, Fitbit has not enlightened us to their plans. I suggest keeping an eye on their blog.fitbit.com
