I take an aqua bike spin class. The bikes are underwater and stationary. The fitbit Ionic and my previous Fitbits don't track the activity properly unless worn on my ankle which I can't do with the watch. I get steps, but now with the new Ionic and the heart rate and all the great new features I would love it to properly track the exercise. Something like a stationary bike app. The class is 45 minutes long and a good cardio workout with arm and ab workouts included. Is there something I can use for this? The watch is awesome for everything else I do, biking outdoors and swimming etc. But I take this class 3 times a week and would really like a better way to track it. Thanks for any ideas.

For one thing, about .0001 percent probably take a water spin class so you really can't rely on fitbit working overtime to see to it that this exercise is covered, however, I do spinning on my own 5 days a week outside of water and use the spinning mode and it works way better than it ever did with the surge... It's about 70 calories off lower from what the bike says, which makes sense considering I'm a 6 ft male weighing in at only 165 so I'm naturally burning less than most people bigger.. The algorithm for spinning at least for me seems way smarter this time around... Lets be honest, if we're not moving our arms, the ionic is really gauging heartrate more than anything so the best bet may be to try spinning..

I too take Aqua Spin (teach it twice a week) and am an indoor cyclist (teach it twice a week, as well). I use the Surge but received the Ionic as a gift and came here with the same question as the oriigal post-er. I will try the Ionic on Spin mode in Aqua Spin (HydroRider) and see what happens tomorrow night. Then the next time I will try it on Workout mode. If it tracks heart rate then I'm good, because I mostly like to see that and the estimated calorie burn (not steps or miles).
