This looks like a Charge 4 with a colour screen and some other minor changes, does anyone have a side by side comparison?

@EvilGav   I haven't seen a side-by-side comparison of the Luxe with other Fitbit models, yet.  I'm sure someone will make one soon.  I did my own comparison looking at the features and specs on the Fitbit Store.  The Luxe doesn't have built-in GPS, Fitbit Pay or an altimeter.  The specs seem more similar to the Inspire series than the Charge series.

CNET's "announcement" article describes it more as a holistic wellness tracker (these could be Fitbit's words) and less as a fitness tracker.  Just one quick opinion.

Hi, @EvilGav , three main features of the Charge 4 not available on the Luxe are floor counting, built in GPS. and Wallet (link a card to the app and pay from your wrist).

Once reviewers have had a chance to look at the new Luxe I am sure someone will post a comparison chart.  Meanwhile you might want to have a look at comparisons here

Sense, Charge 5, Inspire 2; iOS and Android

Hmmm, the wallet I can live without - I have it on my Charge 4, but since I have to type a PIN in every time I want to use it, it's actually more hassle than just using a card.  The GPS and altimeter though would be annoying to lose.

You may find the chart at the bottom of this screen helpful, @EvilGav .

Folks, take a look at the specifications... the two trackers are completely different.

Charge 4:

  • 3-axis accelerometer
  • Optical heart rate monitor
  • GPS + GLONASS
  • Red and infrared sensors for oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitoring
  • Device temperature sensor (skin temperature variation available in the Fitbit app)
  • Vibration motor
  • NFC
  • Altimeter

Luxe:

  • 3-axis accelerometer
  • Optical heart rate monitor
  • Vibration motor
  • Red and infrared sensors for oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitoring

So, you can see that the Charge 4 is in another league. The Luxe is a basic tracker and its price is justified only by the looks/premium materials.

Side by side, the Luxe is also much smaller than the Charge 4.

So basically, it's not a replacement (at least, I hope). It's a stylish tracker with lots of colors and bracelets, and much less functions.

Their ad says "Fitness & wellness goes fashion-forward". So they are marketing it as a fashion accessory themselves.

I guess it's targeted to women (also, most of the accessory bracelets are for women), or at least to users that are looking for a fancy tracker that's more stylish and don't care much about advanced functions.

Unless Fitbit wants to commit a commercial suicide, I don't think this will be the replacement for the Charge 4. At least, I hope so. 😉

I have nothing against "fashion trackers", but I hope Fitbit will maintain a lineup of more "technically advanced" trackers as well, without requiring users to necessarily buy a bulky smartwatch.

I agree @tompabes. I think a more appropriate comparison is Luxe vs Inspire 2 where only additional features by Luxe are the obvious color display and SpO2. I couldn't find any other additional functions.
