Discreparncy between hourly and daily steps count

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I keep having a discrepancy between my daily step count (that shows up on today's screen on the app) and the hourly view for the day. For example, yesterday at 11:16 pm I took a screenshot of my step count which showed 11,041 steps. But the hourly view for the day only showed 10,491 steps. The next day my daily step count for the previous day way 10,491 not 11'041. Where did over 500 steps go? And why is this a recurring issue? I have tried disconnecting the Bluetooth, restarting my Luxe device, restarting my phone, uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Nothing has fixed it.

Hi, @mitchzilla welcome to the community, I'm not replicating your experience but do note the apparent discrepancy between the watch & app on my phone from time to time. Before comparing one with the other sync your Fitbit app on your phone by sliding your finger down the "Today" screen & releasing. If the issue persists investigate your settings in "Health Connect" and sync health connect. Ensure your Luxe is paired with your phone. The area to review is via the icon in the top left corner of the "Today" screen>touch the phone & Health connect tiles in turn & follow the instructions.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply . I force sync and manually sync constantly (the method you described and by going to my device on the "connected to fitbit" screen and pressing "sync now." Neither fix the issue. My Luxe is properly paired (I even unpaired, uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app and paired it again). I do not have Health Connect enabled as I only have one fitness tracking app and one fitness tracker, but if you think it will help I'll give it a try.

To give more context as I've been monitoring this more and more closely each day, it seems like the day starts with both the "today" and "day" screen synced. As the day goes on and I walk more and more those two screens fall out of sync. At the end of the day, after midnight, I lose about 500 to 600 steps. The app defaults to the step count number from the "day" screen, not the number on my actual Luxe watch/the "today" screen.

I've attached another example from last night. At 11:59PM the "today" screen and my watch showed 13,157 steps. The  "day" screen showed 12,641 steps. At midnight I lost 500 steps as my app defaulted to 12,641 steps for the day. You can see the time stamps on the top left of the screen.

Hi, @mitchzilla, thanks for the feedback, this is not something I've seen reported previously (although I might have missed it) Forgive me for going back to the beginning but it might help if I knew the make, model & OS of your mobile phone Fitbit Compatible Devices - Help check you do have a compatible phone & OS.

Your Luxe shows a higher number of steps and is of course the source of the data, the Fitbit app needs to sync with the Luxe and should display the result. As the app shows a lower figure it looks like a syncing issue.

I mentioned Health Connect because one of the settings varies the source of data in the Fitbit app (Show data from Fitbit only or show data from Health Connect) the latter sometimes results in discrepancies. Allowing you have no other "Health" apps running such as Witings scales or My Fitness Pal the "Show data from Fitbit only" should be set - if you have activated Health Connect during your resets.

I'm not able to explain how you are getting differing results on the two registers in the Fitbit app though I do note you are recording steps right up to midnight and wonder if that might have something to do with it. Are you using more than one time zone?

I'm sorry I can't provide much help.

Cheers

Thank you so much for trying to figure this out!

I use a Pixel 6 Pro running Android Version 15 so there shouldn't be a compatibility issue. I have also had the same Luxe and a Pixel phone for the past 3 years and this issue has seemingly only come up in the past few weeks (possibly corresponding with one of the latest Fitbit app updates). I still have Health Connect disabled as I don't have any other sources of fitness tracking data available.

I do think you might be on to something with the time of tracking though, as this issue seemingly gets worse throughout the day. It's almost as if the app need more time to sync up and register the numbers from my Luxe watch. I don't switch time zones, but I am often registering steps right up until midnight and then losing some of that step count data when the app switches to a new day.

I've found a lot of posts about syncing issues and data discrepancy between tracker and app, but nothing specific to this end of day issue I keep having. I've tried all the tips provided for fixing sync issues, but it doesn't fix it.

Thanks again for your help.
