Fitbit Luxe won't track my sleep data

Just got my Luxe yesterday. Was so excited to use it. However, it didn’t track my sleep last night and it won’t track stress management. Anyone else having this problem?

My first night it did 2 hours 29 mins of my sleep, and the 2nd, it did 2 hours 44 mins. I am hoping it just needed a few days to adjust, although this is my 4th Fitbit and none of the others did this. So I hope it straightens out. Or that someone here can help.

Hi there, @Gerristewart @Dragongirl1978 . Welcome to the Community Forums.

Sleep stages are based on heart rate data. Since you both just got the Fitbit Luxe, give the heart rate a few days to settle down. It does some calculations, looking at heart rate throughout the day and while you are sleeping, so it might just not have enough data to give a reasonable value yet.

Hope this helps.

Thank you! This is my fourth tracker and I just never had this issue before. I’m hoping it will calm down a few days.

Hi there - I am having the same issue with my Luxe. It showed my sleep last night, Monday, from 7:58 pm to 11:42 pm when I got up to use the washroom. Went back to bed and there is nothing tracked from when I went back to bed until I got up at 5:00 am. When I go in and edit my sleep from 7:58 pm to 5:00 am it says that there is already sleep time for that time - which it is referring to the night before.

Do I need to start tracking my sleep manually in order to get a proper read?

Hi there, @Lisaapie. Thanks for stopping by and for the details shared.

Your time asleep is calculated by subtracting your time spent awake and restless from your overall tracked sleep time. For example, if you slept 8 hours but woke up 2 times for 15 minutes each, your time asleep would be 7 hr 30 min.

To learn more about your time asleep in sleep stages, see What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages?

There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information about why you see your sleep pattern, tap or click the sleep record that shows your sleep pattern.

Hope this helps.

My Fitbit has not tracked any sleep yet either.

Hi there - I wear my Fitbit exactly where you say to wear it. I understand how sleep is calculated. If I am in bed a certain amount of time but restless or awake for so long etc. My question is why did it not track after I got back to bed after using the washroom because I was not awake from midnight to 5 am.

Do I need to manually tap my Fitbit when I go to bed and when I get up in order to get an accurate reading?

Last night it did five hours and 31 minutes so I guess it’s improving. I will just keep an eye on it. Tracking sleep is very important to me so I hope it straightens out soon.

My Luxe recorded sleep inaccurately on Sunday night but recorded nothing last night. I couldn’t even sync it this morning so I removed it and re-added it. It’s really frustrating! It’s it because it’s a new device to Fitbit that there are so many issues? I’ll give it a few more days but I’m ready to return it!

Mine is not tracking heart rate consistently or sleep at all. I have to keep manually entering sleep data. I wear my fitbit snugly and in the position you suggest (same as I did with my Alta HR). It’s been 4 days. I may go back to my Alta even though the luxe is so much prettier. But I need a device that works.

This was night 5 for me, and it finally worked. It did the whole night. The other issues I'm having with it is that my steps will randomly disappear, but then if I sync they come back. I am going to give it a little more time to work out bugs, but this is the first time I've had these kinds of issues and I got both the Charge 2 and Charge 3 right when they came out with no problems. I don't want to have to select an alternative, but I'm hoping for an update that fixes all the bugs.

Hi Maria,

I too am encountering a strange issue with sleep tracking. I've worn the Luxe consistently since receiving it and it has only tracked sleep once. I've tried numerous troubleshooting steps but haven't been able to resolve. After contacting customer support I was told I would receive an email with high touch support, but I haven't received that yet. Would you be able to help?

Just to update my post here this was the only night that it actually works. After this night it’s back to two hours in three hours and last night it did two blocks of 4 1/2 hours. As if I had woken up in the middle of the night but I didn’t.

Sorry Maria,  but day 3 and sleep tracking still isn’t working. Same issue as others. First 2 days didnt record anything once I woke in the middle of the night. But I then when I manually log the wake time the correct stats appear.

However, today nothing showed up today at all. Same story when I then manually log start and end times, the correct stats including break up of sleep stages shows up. It’s as if the stats are there but won’t automatically log until I manually enter the data. I sync the device with no luck. I restart the device with no luck. I restart the phone with no luck. Any suggestions or is this something that will either sort itself out or get fixed by the next update?

I let it go to for 2 full weeks and it wasn’t tracking sleep at all (among other issues I was having, it quit swiping left entirely) so I sent it back. They are sending me another one and I will give it a week or two and then if it doesn’t straighten out or it doesn’t operate as it supposed I’ll probably end up getting a charge 4. Very disappointed that it was put on the market before the bugs worked out.

I have 2 luxe.  I’ve had them since Xmas.    One has never tracked sleep properly.   Have been on the phone several times with Fitbit.  We’ve re set several times.  Adjusted the settings and made sure we have the latest up date.   The other luxe started tracking well.  Now it too does not track properly

I have had my luxe since November and prior to that had the Versa. I have noticed a few disappointments with the luxe: it is not very sensitive to ‘wake’ when I flick my wrist to see the time, it is even hard to wake when tapping it. When I get a phone call or text it often doesn’t notify me and I am not that far away from my phone. As well, even with the free 6 month upgrade, it is not giving me any of the health metrics besides the resting heart rate and sometimes oxygen saturation. Overall have been a bit disappointing as I gave it the 2 weeks to generate a ‘history’ for me and I still don’t get info. Would be absolutely pointless to pay for any upgrade for Fitbit premium. I am wondering if I just got a dud or if this is a common issue with the luxe
