Fitbit reduces overall sleep time when I add a nap

Fitbit (brand new Luxe, just replaced old Luxe a few days ago but the old one did this as well) is repeatedly reducing my overall sleep time when I use the “begin sleep now” feature to add a nap.

This morning I woke up at 7:50 AM, checked my sleep on the Fitbit app, and saw it said 6hrs15mins. Not ideal so I thought, ok, I’ll go back to sleep for a few, and tapped “begin sleep now.” 34 minutes later I woke up and tapped “end sleep” and it logged a 34 minute nap… while telling me my TOTAL sleep time for the night is now 5hrs 58 minutes — 17 minutes less sleep and not 34 minutes more sleep. It has cut sleep off of the earlier sleep log.

Why is this happening?? This is not the first time this has happened and it’s ridiculous that I can’t use a basic feature that Fitbit has had for years without error.

Not sure this would be a solution, but if I were just waking up for a minute or 2, I wouldn't bother with "begin sleep now". I would hope Fitbit would treat it as just another brief awakening as several other times in the night, then continuing sleep.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
