How do I display both heart rate and steps on same always-on screen for workouts?!!

Hi. I'm confused. This is a fitness tracker, right? I can't seem to get even the most basic screen settings going for tracking my workouts while they are in progress. I need two simple things -- a readable (large-ish font) heart rate monitor that updates continuously, and a step counter that updates continuously (and reliably), and the ability to have those on an always-on screen while I am working out so I don't have to keep tapping the screen each time. (So far my tracker only wakes after four or five taps.)

It also doesn't seem to track my steps at all when I'm on the treadmill.

Help?!!

@Phrannest   I'm sorry, but the Luxe doesn't let you customize the screen to let you see both of those at the same time while using the Exercise app.  No current tracker lets you change the top or bottom stat.  All wrist worn devices need some arm swing to count steps.  You step count will be reduced if you hold the rails.  Do you hold the rails?

@LZeeW Oh wow, really? No current Fitbit tracker lets you change the top or bottom stat? I didn't like the Apple Watch because it too counts arm swings and not leg movement, but at least it displays both step and heart rate counts continuously without any fuss or constantly having to tap the screen. I play Pokemon Go while walking to motivate myself (which requires both hands), I carry a purse on one arm and a phone in the other, groceries, I do housework where I'm carrying soap and towels, I vacuum, I hold the rails on both carts and treadmill to keep myself steady. I type and move my hands a lot while sitting. I even type and do computing on a standing/walking desk, so my arm movements are rarely synced with my feet. None of these things are registering correctly, and they are the bulk of my movement. I need to multitask and be steady, so there's no way I can change that. Even when I walk without holding anything it doesn't seem to record steps, maybe my arm movements are naturally too little.

In short I am disappointed to report I suspect this device is useless for me, with the exception of the sleep tracker function. The only fitness device I've ever had that actually counts steps is my Fitbit One clip. I have to try to dig it up. I got spoiled by the actual pedometer -- you could attach it to your chest and it would count real steps and floors, not some kind of depressingly inaccurate and demotivational guess. It was quite easy to lose though. They need to put some time and money into figuring out a sturdy, clothing-friendly clip that doubles as a brooch-type accessory or pretty sweater clip or even a necklace for busy housewives and other people who can't be constantly fussing about whether or not they are moving their arms.

@Phrannest   Fitbit makes trackers and smartwatches and the Luxe is a tracker.  The smartwatches let you customize the top and bottom stat.  Comparing the Luxe to an Apple Watch is like comparing apples to oranges.

If the Luxe doesn't meet your needs, then I hope you are in the return window.
