Hello

How do I set the fitbit to automatically track when I sleep? I currently manually input the settings that I'm going to bed but would like it to automatically detect it

@mrchrisan   Just wear your Luxe to sleep to get automatic tracking.  If you are using that "Begin Sleep Now" in the Fitbit app, please stop.  Users with older trackers that don't automatically detect sleep need that feature.  There are many older model trackers still in use.

Hi there, @mrchrisan. Welcome to the Community Forums.

All wrist-based Fitbit devices automatically detect your sleep when you wear your device to bed. As @LZeeW has mentioned, wear your device in a snug wristband while sleeping.

When your body is completely at rest and you haven’t moved for about an hour, your Fitbit device records that you’re asleep.

For more information, see these two help articles How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device? and What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages?

Hope that helps.

My Luxe also has not been automatically tracking, not since I got it. I had and Alta before and had no issues with it. Tracking sleep is one of the biggest reasons I got a new Fitbit.

I've only had mine a couple of days and it tracked perfectly on night 1 then failed to record detail last night. Really disappointed!😒

Hi there, @ET73 @Danapeterstaylo. Welcome on board. Thanks for the details provided in your posts. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products into consideration.

I recommend considering the following in order to get sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information, see What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages?

Hope this helps.
