I lost my Luxe. Can I disable it for whoever finds it?

Crushed to come home from shopping today and no Luxe on my wrist!!!  I didn't have the time to go retrace my steps for the 2 hours that I was out multiple places.  Figure someone picked it up or drove over it in a parking lot.   I was half hour away from the shopping area I had been.

Can I disable it from my app?   Is the serial # somehow connected to me and my app?  If someone who found it got the fitbit app, can they use it under their new account?

I suppose they can use it locally without an app.  Can I disable that usage?

Hi @gardengal4 I am pretty sure that there is currently no way to prevent another person who finds your Fitbit from using it as their own and setting it up on their own account.  Keeping it on your account or deleting it makes no difference either way.

However, I personally would leave a lost Fitbit attached to my account because if someone does find it and sets it up it will automatically immediately disappear from the original account.  So as long as it is still attached to your account you know that it is out there somewhere and not used by anyone else. If it disappears, you know someone else has got it.

Not that that really makes a difference, but I think I would want to know.

For your own piece of mind it is helpful to know that there is no personal info stored on the device - it's all in the app so there are no security implications of losing your Fitbit

In the old days if you found a Fitbit you could call the company, report it and send it in to them, and Fitbit would trace the original owner and send it back to them!  But Fitbit is no longer that kind of company, sadly.

Just to make sure it's not close, like in your car or such:

or any other free bluetooth finder phone app, but before battery dies.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thanks, but I read that stuff. it doesn't apply.   It's not in my car.  It was lost on a multi-stop shopping trip.  There's no practical way to find it. I have said my goodbyes.  This post is not about finding it.

My question is, can anyone use it?  Can I disable it by its serial #?

At least a replacement one is one sale now.  that helps a teeny bit.

I'm wondering also if I should remove it from my account?     If I keep it on my account, would that preclude anyone else from adding it to their account?

Adding to what @Julia_G said, to be of use to anyone else, finder would have to know what brand it is (i.e. Fitbit), figure out which model (i.e.) Luxe, and buy the approriate charger as soon after the battery died.

Thanks Julia that helps!

Also helping is that my replacement one had said it was backordered til 5/19/23, but just got an email that said it is on the way.  That might just be label created in an automated system, but I'm hopeful.  I don't think they would create a label if they weren't ready to ship.
