I'm just wondering what a Fitbit is good for. It WAY underestimates the calorie burn for every workout and from what I've read in other forum conversation, apparently it is difficult for the Fitbit to get an accurate heart rate for anything where you're moving your arms around? I have used several other heart rate monitors and calculators and every other one is aligned in terms of calorie burn. Fitbit is the one that is consistently WAY off. For example in my several hours of cleaning today, my chest strap heart rate monitor counted a 687 calorie burn, and the Fitbit counted 370.
I was going to overlook this and use the Fitbit basically as a pedometer, and even that doesn't work. The step counter is inaccurate and either doesn't pick up on steps I've taken, or overcounts when I just move my arms.
I also find it to be extremely discouraging that when I have done several hours of exercise in a day, it's still telling me that I will be over on my calories for the day.
Really disappointing to spend so much on something that is essentially useless.

Check that your weight is entered approximately correctly.

Also, it depends on how long you've had the tracker. If you just set it up today, your step count will be way off as it tries to measure your stride. This normally lasts a day or so. You could also adjust your stride manually by following the instructions here .
