When I select the “+” to do a Sleep Log and hit “Begin Sleep Now” it tells me how long it took to fall asleep (awesome!) It also tracks restless periods through the night (stellar!).
Why does it not also track sleep stages through the night?
I would love an update that allows me to Initiate a Sleep Log (to record how long it took to fall asleep) AND THEN continues to record my REM/light/deep/Awake stages through the night. Then in the morning I can hit "I'm Awake" and have both sets of info. As it stands I only have access to "mins to fall asleep" OR the sleep stage metrics. Give me both ❤️
At face value it seems like it would be easy to integrate the “mins to sleep” with sleep stage metrics. A great place to add the "mins to fall asleep" metric would be in the "Time Asleep" category that is naturally gathered when I do not initiate a Sleep Log." Maybe somewhere at the bottom within or below "Sleep Schedule."
I would use this feature daily.

@Maddd19 Fitbit has trackers that automatically sense sleep and older trackers that don't. The Begin Sleep Now is for those trackers that can't detect sleep. It will always show sleep patterns. You need a heart rate recording to get sleep stages. I hope you can picture this in your mind. Fitbit features are compartmentalized. The Begin Sleep Now is very different from automatic recording. These features don't "talk" to each other. Premium users get an advanced sleep analysis. You will get sleep patterns, sleep stages and your sleeping heart rate graph in your sleep details. Did you activate your Premium trial?
What seems easy at face value would require a complete rebuild of sleep tracking. There might be a time when this can happen, when all these older models are past their end of life.

I don’t think they technically need to talk to each other; Why wouldn’t they be able to add a “start sleep now” pin to the natural recording process? It knows when I fall asleep, so me hitting “sleep” to put a pin in the start of my night doesn’t seem like that crazy of an add-on… but I’m not a coder.
As it is I can try to remember what time I look at my clock before I fall asleep,
