I am trying to add the Luxe to my daughter’s account, but the only devices that show up are the Aces. Is it possible for a 14 year old to use the Luxe?

Thank you! Ben

@bpc135798642   I'm not an employee, but I think this seems to be an unintended consequence of Google Family Link accounts.  I think your daughter needs her own Google account.

A different user posted about having similar trouble because their adult daughter was on a Family Link account because of her special needs.  Clearly old enough for a standard account, but on a supervised account for a specific reason.  Also, the moderator completely misread your post.

Hi there, @bpc135798642. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post.

Please note the only Fitbit devices that are compatible with a Fitbit child account are Ace, Ace 2, or Ace 3. For more information, see How do I get started with Fitbit kids devices?

Hello @bpc135798642 and welcome to the Community.  Is your daughter part of a Google Family account?  Also, where are you located?  Some EU countries have more restrictive internet privacy laws than the US.

Thanks @LZeeW, I’m in the US. My daughter is part of my Google Family account.
From @MarreFitbit ’s response the only devices they allow for kids are the Aces. Thanks again! Ben

Thanks @MarreFitbit

Is there any reason for that? That’s a bit disappointing…. those look they are designed for elementary school kids, not those in high school!

The Luxe is specifically recommended for teens by a lot of third party reviewers:

Thanks for sharing your question @bpc135798642.

As @LZeeW mentioned, I'd recommend creating a Google account for your daughter since the Family account will only allow pairing child devices for her. That way, she'll be able to pair the Luxe and wear it. I have one and love the slim design.

Thanks @AndreaFitbit and @LZeeW creating a completely separate account worked- it’s just one more think to manage! I appreciate the help and the quick response! Ben

This is a ridiculous policy.  My child just turned 14 and was given a fitbit charge 5 because he is running cross country.  His google account is linked to mine so I can monitor his phone and email usage when necessary.  From what I understand, the only options for him to use his charge 5 are a) to act like he is me so I can access his account and tell him the information on his fitbit (which neither of us wants, and precludes me from using my own fitbit), b) open his own account that I cannot monitor (which I do not want because he is still a child), or c) return the charge 5 and get an ace (which is an inferior product that we don't have in our possession right now).  Am I wrong, will you change the policy, or can you offer some other advice?

Hi @Learn1ng  it's the law and Fitbit can't do anything to change it. Read about COPPA - click. Actually, if your 14 year old is thought to be older, the demographics for the stats would be all wrong. A young athlete would have different heart rate, etc than their parent. You can share your smartphone to sync and monitor stats, but you'd need to log in and out as each of you syncs. As for the account, try B, with you being the one in charge of the email address and phone. Just make sure to have your son sync.
