7/13 Update: We’re continuing to roll out this firmware for the Luxe Firmware Update 194.61, and expect more customers are able to update their devices. This is a progressive rollout and all customers can expect to have it within a few weeks. We release updates in phases so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. If you don't see the option to update, don't worry - you'll have it soon!
We’re excited to announce that a firmware update version 194.61 for Luxe will be available soon! Some of you might already have this update available. If you installed it, let us know what you think!
We release updates to customers in phases. If you don’t see it, check the Fitbit app in a few days, and you’ll see a message when you can install the update. We appreciate your patience while we get this update to all of our customers.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

I have been having my issues since mid-May or even earlier. Mine just turned 2 years old this month. Since the latest firmware update which I received about two weeks ago, it did not change or improve the functionality of the tracker. Matter of fact, it made it worse. Firmware updates are suppose to improve the performance, not disable/crash when a notification occurs.
I did change to another brand (which I am not disclosing) and I am not happy to how it functions comparing to the Fitbit brand. It does not recognize the different exercises that I do, does not give me an overall sleep score and when trying to read a text message, it only gives me part of the message. It does track my steps and it does give me blood pressure, how accurate the BP is... I can't answer that.
I am hoping that Fitbit recognizes that this bug(s) is still not resolved and take some kind action to correct the problem. I didn't pay much for the other brand and it all boils down to "you get what you pay for", however, it's not crashing like my Luxe is. I still keep it charged and hoping for some kind of "hope" before I discard it.
Others were complaining about the same issues we are having, if you go through the forum posts, you will read that others said that Fitbit mentioned it could be "defective" and that Fitbit would only offer 30% off of a new unit due to the fact it was out of warranty. My question is, if I went that route, and it happened again, would Fitbit replace the unit as a whole or would they only offer 30% off?
I had an Altra HR for several years and it was a great unit. I think I purchased about May of 2018 and the battery life was fairly decent. It still worked great when I upgraded to the Luxe which was August of 2021. I wanted to continue with the slimline look, I liked the fact that I could change to several different clock faces, it was waterproof and was able to add additional exercises. My Altra HR 'NEVER' gave me any headaches like the Luxe. It was a fine performing tracker.

Three months on from this post and I still don’t have the update. Why is there such a delay? Even your update in July notes everyone “should expect to have it within a few weeks”. What’s going on?

@ChadGi I reached out to Twitter Fitbit support with the question and this was the response (makes no sense to me at all!):
Hi, Michele. Thanks for your question. When an update is available, the Fitbit app downloads a small portion of the firmware each time you sync your Fitbit device. This reduces the amount of time you wait for updates to install. Note: While the update is downloading, you won't see an available update in the Fitbit app. For more information, see http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1871.htm.
So you have to keep syncing the device non stop to eventually get the update? If not you’ll never see it? So convoluted IMO!

My Luxe Fitbit still hasn't updated and it has become utterly unreliable. Just today while in a spin class, my Fitbit congratulated me for hitting a milestone and then blacked out. I still had 45 minutes to the class with no real tracking. I like knowing my calories burned and zone minutes earned. This is the norm, like most have mentioned in here.
Another goofy thing that keeps happening: my Fitbit alarm will not go off and instead set itself to an 800 minute snooze or black out from the wake -up notification. I've had to bring my phone to bed to use as an alarm because I can't rely on my Fitbit alarm. I reboot my Fitbit about 4 times a day.
I've been researching new trackers and am considering other options since this tracker is not doing its job. Sadly, I love my Luxe. I loved my Charge 4 before it, too.
😔

I guess the update is not coming to my Fitbit Luxe after 2 months because you are maybe trying to fix the ongoing issues with battery and others been reported even for users who have updated to this release. How much time does it take for developers to fix the ongoing issues?
The usual workarounds to fix issues are useless, and resetting the device by any way has demonstred for the last 40 years that it only postpone the same issue to re-appear.
My husband has a Garmin watch and it receives updates very frequently (1-per-month) but I feel Fitbit ignore user's complaints reporting issues completely and don't care about the impact on user experience nor about hte bad reputation.
Could you please inform us (users) about what steps are been taken and a time frame for this (or next) firmware to be released to ALL Fitbit Luxes that would fix the battery drain and others?

@LizzyFitbit is there any news as to when the firmware update will actually appear? It’s been way over 2 months.

Hello everyone, and welcome to our newest participants.
We value the time you have taken to discuss this update and to offer your perspective. Let me begin by stating that there is no specific date for the complete release of this firmware. However, the Fitbit app will prompt you to install it as soon as it's available.
Some of you have mentioned having battery problems, so if you haven't already, I advise taking these steps. For more help, please contact our Support Team if your device is still not performing as it should.

Hello. My Fitbit Luxe version says 20001.188.58.
Is this the latest version? If not, when will I receive the update or is there something else I need to do?
------
I haven't received the update either and my version is the exact same as yours.

For those who are anxious for the update because you have not received it yet. Consider yourself lucky. There are a large number of us who HAVE received the updated and it has several bugs in it that has basically rendered the Luxe useless. There is another community thread about it. The new firmware now makes the Luxe not respond to raise-to-wake, tapping it doesn’t wake it, it is just dead and won’t turn on. So you now have to go back to charger and let it boot up. It’s charged but has to sit on charger for a while until date and time and battery level resync. So then you take it off charger and seems to work properly. But soon it happens again and you have to put it on charger again. I believe it is something with the notifications. It seems whenever I have certain notifications come in, it renders it dead. And you don’t KNOW it died. So later in the day, after you’ve walked 6800 steps, it didn’t register any of them. It shows you did 148 steps for the entire day. Or it completely did not record your workout. I have days and days where it shows I didn’t break 300 steps total. 🙄. So beware the update - you really don’t want it.

This describes the update perfectly! But I’d also add the gps doesn’t work anymore and the battery life is down to 2 days if you’re lucky! Really disappointing!

I had all those issues prior to the update (which I never received). That's what I was hoping the update would fix. I finally just replaced the stupid thing but not with another luxe.

What really burns me is that Fitbit will email a weekly update of your progress! Oh, I have not been doing very well in the "Steps" department nor has anyone else in this forum who has the same issues. SMH!! Battery life.. Lucky if I get one day.. Switching back and forth between Fitbit and another brand.
What would be really nice to see if Fitbit is actually hearing our concerns and reacting to these ongoing issues with the Luxe and maybe other models are having the same problems. There are many disgruntled users of this product, including myself.
You are right, the update does more harm than good!!

I’d like to voice my extreme displeasure with the iPhone interface update. There is so much wasted screen space and you’ve made it more difficult to see what I’m interested in a concise display. I’m unlikely to renew my premium subscription when it expires and I will probably switch to an Apple Watch. Why did you do so much damage to something that wasn’t broken?

Just updated my Fitbit Luxe on Saturday and my steps are all wrong when synced with my phone. Once synced it changes to only what has registered on my phone, not on my Fitbit. Not happy with the update!
