Luxe UI in Exercise app, running: Can anyone post a screen shot of heart rate view?

Hi Fitbit runners, especially any of you who are old enough to require reading glasses:  Are you able to use the Luxe to keep an eye on heart rate while running?

I am a casual/fitness only runner, and the only metric I watch WHILE running is the heart rate so I don't let it get too out of hand.  However, I don't wear reading glasses while I run, duh.  So I have been combing Luxe YouTube reviews etc. hoping to see a video of the Running app and how one displays the  heart rate AND PARTICULARLY whether I think I could read it while running.  In sunlight. Without reading glasses.

Many thanks if you can point me in the right direction or if you own one and would be willing to take a photo of your wrist with the heart rate displayed to post a link here.  I don't want to buy one, try it and return it unless that is truly the only way to know.

thanks!

@AliceSighed   I'm not sure why @SunsetRunner says you can't see your heart rate in the Run shortcut, because you can.  I started the Run exercise on my Luxe and scrolled until I saw heart rate as the middle stat.  I let the screen go dark.  Every time I raised my wrist, the middle stat was still heart rate.  The Luxe does do what you are asking it to do.  The only issue is the font size difference.  The fonts for the middle stat are all the same from screen to screen.

There is another difference between the Versa 2 and the Luxe.  The Versa 2 lets you customize the top and bottom stat.  It might also let you edit stats you don't want to see as you scroll.  The Luxe doesn't let you do this.  The top and bottom stat are set for each exercise.  You can't edit the middle stat and must scroll through all of them to get to your desired stat.  The Luxe doesn't have an altimeter, so it doesn't count flights.

Hi, I don’t think you can see your heart rate while running with the Luxe (unless you don’t log the session as a run and just run with the basic clock face). Here are pics with what I see.

pic 1 - normal clock face displaying heart rate (no run session logged)

I don’t have problems reading the screen during runs outdoors, but in bright light, I need to shade my eyes and the screen.

Hi Jomar2,

Do you wear reading glasses to read printed material or glasses when working with a screen?

Thanks for the reply -

THIS is what I wanted to know!

with the Versa2, I can click through at the start of a run to display heart rate, and that view sticks throughout the run.

This is what I wanted to learn about the Luxe. Sounds as if I need to stick with the full smart watch experience.

thank you!!

No, I’m slightly short sighted but don’t need to wear my contact lenses to read the screen while running. It does sound like the Luxe doesn’t have the feature you want, though the discussion boards suggest some updates are being rolled out so it might be added. Will try to remember to post an update if I notice this feature come available.

@AliceSighed   I tried to post a picture, but kept getting an invalid HTML error.  (?????)  The Luxe heart rate numbers are about 1/4" (3 mm) high.  I hope you can compare this with the size of your Versa 2 screen view.  I wear a Versa 3.  I think the Luxe screen numbers are significantly smaller.

The Luxe is pretty.  But it is a tracker and The Versa 2 is a smartwatch.  Different features.

A moderator posted that the Luxe is supposed to get an update that "improves" the font.  I have not received it yet.

Obviously it's not going to be THIS large.  If it were the same size as the Pace values, I could read it though.

But now that I know there is no option to display heart rate WHILE in the Running app, my decision is easy.  Thank you Jomar2!

@AliceSighed   You can display the heart rate.  I tried to add a photo from my Luxe, but got an error.  That’s why I posted the dimensions.  It looks just like the pace font, exactly the same.

Does the heart rate stay present as the displayed view when you raise your arm throughout your run? Or do you have to tap or swipe through screens each time to find it?

Thanks!

You can’t see your heart rate while running if you have selected Run as a session. If you just run without selecting this (in the Home Screen, or whatever they call it), you could toggle to leave heart rate displayed as the default before you start and then you should see it whenever the clock face is lit.

As Jomar2 has pointed out, the important time for it to display is when using the Run app in the tracker.  I do log my runs, so I use the app and cycle through the display until heart rate is shown.

Then as I run, I can check periodically just by raising my arm. Versa also vibrates when you enter a new heart rate zone, but I don't particularly need that feature.

If this is not available on the Luxe - which Jomar2 has confirmed - then I will have to stick with the full smartwatch. I was just hoping I could downsize since I don't use true smartwatch capabilities.

Wow, I couldn’t see what was different for me but then managed to scroll to a setting that let me activate heart rate. I think you need to start a run, scroll down, then there’s a setting to switch on heart rate. I’ve done it and it displays like this for me too now. Thanks @LZeeW !

Thank you @LZeeW  for your answer and photo.  Based on this, I took the plunge and ordered the Luxe.  I can indeed see the heartrate when running, which is great, and I don't care about the features that I no longer have as I never used them (except "find my iPhone", which was admittedly helpful when no one was home to call my phone for me).  I'll live without the altimeter, too, since I earned the satellite badge 2 years ago and don't really care if I don't get a badge for making it to the moon in stair flights.

For you oldsters out there like me who wear reading glasses, I would say that you can read the Luxe main font when exercising (heart rate, pace etc.) as long as you don't need more than about a 2.25 strength reading level.  That's what I use.  It is admittedly hard to read in bright sunlight (the numbers are yellow, for one thing) so you sometimes have to wait for a bit of shade to check in.

Very happy to have a smaller, lighter Fitbit on my arm again after 5+ years of Versa and Blaze!
