Luxe battery life query

I love the size of the Luxe so I bought an extra one for when my current one dies.  Will my spare have an issue with the battery if I don't open it or use it for a couple of years?  I ask because I recently bought two never-opened Altas at a garage sale and neither one will charge!  Just curious if I need to open the spare Luxe and charge it every now and then?

As all electronic devices, the battery of your Luxe will have the normal curve of life. Batteries naturally degrade over time, even when they are not in use. This type of degradation is often referred to as calendar degradation. It is influenced by the state of charge at which the battery is kept, with high states of charge generally leading to faster battery degradation.

I tried to recharge my Luxe today after not using it for 25 consecutive days as I moved to a new flat and had lost the charger. So the new charger from Fitbit store arrived today but the Luxe des not seem to recharge.
