Luxe is over-counting my steps

Not having a great start with this device.  My new Fitbit Luxe is over calculating step by 1,000s!  Apparently I must run around in my sleep too as I wake up to several hundred steps in the morning.  I've read somewhere to wear it on my non-dominant wrist but it seems to make little difference.  The 'stride' setting is on automatic and I think that distance is about right for me.  Any suggestions?

Hi Julia. I have exactly the same problem! I hate the Luxe for accurate step counting. I must have been sleep walking! I even tried attaching to my ankle but that didn’t work. All suggestions in this forum have added no value. My step counting is still out by the 1000s!! However, Pacer on my iPhone counts perfectly. Wish I hadn’t purchased! Good luck to you! Good news -  I am awarded lots of badges for accruing so many steps! Laughable if it wasn’t so sad.

Hi there, @Janny51. Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums and already trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Luxe before reaching out.  We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products into consideration.

If you feel that your step count and distance are inaccurate, confirm the following are correct in the Fitbit app:

Since we use height to estimate your walking and running stride lengths, you may want to measure and manually adjust these values if your legs are longer or shorter than average. For more information, see: How do I measure and adjust stride length for my Fitbit device?

Hope this helps.

Hello.

I wish that someone would actually admit that there is a huge problem with Luxe’s step counting. I have tried EVERY fix suggested to no avail. It is obvious that there is a problem from the number of complaints I see online.

I love everything else about the Luxe, but at this point I am going to look for an alternative. I don’t always have my iPhone on me so it will have to a different wearable tech device.

This has been an issue for awhile now and I’m guessing it’s causing others to drop it.

@Kibara Is your wrist setting on ‘Dominant’? I still wear it on my non-dominant wrist, but changing that setting in the app made my step count more accurate.

I already have it set on non-dominant. I did that immediately after I saw the miscounting of steps, but it is still way off.

@Kibara You said you have it set to “non-dominant”. If you feel like you are getting too many steps, then you want “dominant”. That will make it less sensitive to small movements.

Oh I see. I’m wearing it on my non-dominant wrist but should change the setting to dominant. I’ll try that! Thanks for the suggestion!
