Luxe is tracking thousands of steps in my sleep

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Twice now, since ownership time of about 2 1/2 weeks, the Luxe has tracked more steps than I usually get in a day.  Today, 7600+ steps before I woke up at 6:00 a.m. and another day last week:  13,000+ between 6 and 7:30 a.m. and I wasn't even wearing it for most of the time. I haven't found a way that you can reset the daily steps, so it gives inaccurate information for the entire day.  HELP!

Welcome, @Jojo8488. It's great to see you around.

Thanks for the details in your post. Do you have a fitness app that track steps or exercise connected to your Fitbit account? If another fitness app is connected to your Fitbit account, this app may log steps and add it to your dashboard. Also, in case that you have MobileTrack paired to your account, you'll track steps with your Luxe and your phone at the same time and this could be the reason why you see the big amount of steps since both devices are tracking your data and adding it to your total for the day.

To check if you have MobileTrack paired to your account, on the Fitbit app tap on your profile's picture and check under "Devices". To erase some of the steps, you can try logging a Driving activity as instructed here: How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?

On a side note, I moved your post to the Luxe board to keep the forum organized and you can receive assistance from other users.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your prompt response. I neither of those connected devices or apps. And I have the Luxe not the Charge 4. I'll look into the modifications to the daily activity, but it shouldn't be necessary- that not why we invest in these trackers.

Hi, @Jojo8488 , I see you were not wearing your "Luxe" when it recorded "Steps". I have noticed on other devices phantom data accumulates when the device is laid down on its back (try putting it face down). My theory is it detects reflected light from the LED and misinterprets the result, the same may be happening if you put your device down on a quietly vibrating surface!! In practice, you should probably wear your device when you are sleeping (restless sleepers will see additional steps but not this many). Do bear in mind the recommendations here Fitbit Wear & Care. The numbers you are getting are definitely Rogue, I don't see anything like this but there must be an explanation.

I'm not sure this is very helpful but it's my best shot.

Cheers

I appreciate your input Gr4ndp4. But I always wear it when I sleep; last night I was wearing it and woke up with 7000+ steps.  The first time it happened, I assume I woke up with a few thousand or more (and I just didn't notice it)  and by the time I put it back on after my shower, it had gathered 13,000+ steps. Definitely, rogue and was really hoping for an explanation that would make sense and help it be fixable.  I may send it back to the vendor.  Thanks again.

Hi, @Jojo8488. Thanks for the update.

Now that you checked that there's no MobileTrack nor other app connected to you account, probably the steps from previous days were not resetting. All of our devices should reset at midnight to start with new data in the morning, so if your Luxe is not doing it, please try performing a restart as instructed here: How do I restart my Fitbit device? Then test it out by tomorrow to see if it keeps doing the same.

Catch you later.
