I do about 20 to 40 minute jogging sessions once or twice a day. About 50% of the time, fitbit registers the steps and the active minutes, but it doesn't recognize it as exercise. If I manually log the session, then it screws up my step count (i.e., it'll add an extra 10,000 steps because it adds onto steps it already registered).
How can I fix this? Friends told me to use the "start tracking" option, but that only works with GPS. It's not going to do anything when I am on a treadmill in my living room.
Similarly, when I use my spin bike,it doesn't sync well with my bike app (Echelon). Sometimes it will register as a random cardio activity ("freestyle" or "aerobic"), but it won't let me change the category to spinning and enter the stats from my spinning app (distance, speed, etc.). Sometimes I can manually add it later and it will work, but not always.
Can Fitbit just create a non-GPS "start tracking" option for when we want to do exercises at home?
