My newly Luxe is not tracking my sleep data constantly

See title. My fitbit luxe only tracks sleep sometimes. Theres no rhyme or reason, it happens randomly, obviously I only realize when I wake up and it syncs and tracked nothing.

I have pretty much the same bedtime routine, I do nothing different night to night before going to bed etc.

Why does it only work sometimes when its brand new?!

@nataliamarie Thanks for getting back and the details shared.

How long have you been having the Luxe? If your Luxe is less than a week old, then yes, please note since you just bought it, give the RHR a few days to settle down. It does some calculations, looking at heart rate throughout the day and while you are sleeping, so it might just not have enough data to give a reasonable value yet.

If the above doesn't describe your issue, please try the following steps:

  • Switch the Heart Rate settings from On to Off and manually sync your watch. To switch the heart rate settings on your Fitbit device, from the main screen of your watch, swipe left until you see "Settings", next swipe up until you see "Heart Rate" and switch it to Off.
  • Once it's done, manually sync your Luxe. To do so, open the Fitbit app, tap on the Account icon, tap on your Luxe's image and tap on "Sync Now"
  • Next, switch it from Off to On and manually sync your Fitbit once again.
  • Once it's done, restart your Luxe once again.
  • Next, confirm that your Fitbit device is snug on your wrist (the lights shouldn't be visible) We also recommend when you're not exercising, wear the Luxe just above the wrist bone.

Also, for more detailed information, see What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?

Once the above has been performed, please keep an eye on your Luxe for the next couple of days to see if it starts tracking your sleep data accurately

Hello there, @nataliamarie. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the inconvenience with your Luxe.

I recommend considering the following in order to get sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading. The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information, see What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages?

If the above doesn't work, may I know if you've noticed inconsistencies in your heart rate readings during the day? If so, please see What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?

Hello Maria, thank you for your reply. Yes I have done all of the above things. It still only tracks my sleep 'sometimes'. Battery 100%, sleeping ~7 hours a night, band high up on my arm. There's nothing different night to night - some nights it works, some it doesn't. There's no rhyme or reason why. The only thing I can conclude is that this is a dud, since its new. If you have other advice please let me know, otherwise I'll be returning this broken piece. I specifically did everything last night and still it tracked nothing. 😞
