I swim outdoors and I'm really disappointed that my shiny new Lux doesn't have an option to track GPS when swimming, just to track lengths..... (which I think it marks by when you stop swimming briefly?) Tracking my OWS is a fairly major part of my choice of tracker but I'm still stuck with stuffing my phone in a waterproof bag in my tow float to track distance.
Any plans to update the firmware and app to allow for us nutters who don't like swimming pools?

No Fitbit device ever supported open water swimming. I doubt it's gonna change anytime soon.

Hi there, @TBirdAnni. Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums. We‘re taking into consideration your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and services. @t.parker Thanks for your input!
Luxe does not have an option to track open water swimming as the GPS doesn't work underwater. For more information, see How do I track my swims with my Fitbit device?

just a few points...
How far under water do you think your average open water swimmer goes? I understand that it might not be 100% accurate but even a rough mapping would be better than me trying to guess how far I swam out into the lake before turning back for shore.
The advertising doesn't say GPS only for selected activities
People have been asking for this for 3 or 4 years now by the looks of the suggestions forum. So obviously it's needed, even if it would only be available on a limited range of devices (I would have bought a different device if it was clear that there was one that would do the job properly)
I think I shall try leaving it set on "run" and see if I can con it into working.

@MarreFitbit I didn't say why it wasn't supported so please don't add a conclusion if you decide to mention my words. It is true GPS doesn't work underwater but we are talking about swimming, not diving. Worth noting, it doesn't stop competitors from supporting OWS and doing it really well. In fact, AW seems to be one of the best at OWS tracking. If for Fitbit the GPS is the main reason for not supporting OWS then it's just a lazy design and ignoring the rest of the market rather than technical difficulty.
@TBirdAnni Correct me if I'm wrong but Luxe supports only connected GPS which means that you need to carry your phone with you when swimming. It's not only that but depending on the potential implementation of that feature (if ever happens), the phone may need to stay connected to the watch. This is also a problem as the BT signal will be broken when you put the watch underwater (however, recording the GPS in offline mode would solve that problem, same as it is done with BT chest straps when swimming). That's why I can understand why the watch with connected GPS only doesn't support OWS. However, Fitbit has a number of devices with built-in GPS and they don't support OWS either which leaves Fitbit far behind competitors. Fitbit brand is the only one that I've been using that doesn't support OWS on any watch model (and probably it's going to stay that way).
