Using fit bit luxe during cycling to work

Goog morning!

I have recently bought my fit bit luxe and I am a bit confused about the the stats and if they are counted correctly after having read some things in this chat.

I am cycling to work and back and my fit bit is automatically recording the cycling activity which is great.

However, it also counts around 2000 steps per 30 min cycling.

I  first thought this is just a kind of taking cycling into account of activity.

But now I have the feeling that my fit bit is double counting the actual activity + the step counted during the activity ?
This would mean my daily calories burned in the end of the day would be incorrect?

Or is the calorie count only linked to my heart rate ?

Please can someone help me with this confusion?

How is the daily calorie count calculated ?
Are steps during non walk activities and activities double counted for calories ?
Is there a reason why steps continue being counted when the watch recognized that I am doing a specific exercise ?

Calories are based on heart rate.  With the Fitbit on wrist, "steps" while cycling are just from vibrations and depend largely and on road surface.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
