2015 -- Lose 20 pounds by Mother's Day -- 2015!

Hi!  I just saw a thread from 2014 where a group of mom's and non-mom's set a goal to lose 20 pounds by Mother's Day.  Anyone want to start one for 2015 with me?  I have about 35 pounds to lose total, but 20 by May sounds like a good goal to me.

I am going to try to get my 10,0000 steps in and I am joining a gym this weekend to add strength training and cardio.

Hi Nolty07,
I have gone from a size 20/22 to 12 now and soon to be size 10. At the beginning I thought size 10 was WAY to skinny for me -- I am tall and large boned -- now that I am even close to a size 10 it is.... Well just too cool for words 😊. That said the last 15- 20 pounds are much harder to lose than the first 80 were..... I will just keep it up. I know that eventually I will be successful -- i just need keep with the plan and be patient.

Just responding to an earlier post from Nolty07 -- everyone is different but I have learned that I need to keep my protein intake up around 25% -- anything lower and I am tired and hungry and I don't lose weight. It took me a while to figure out what worked for me. I use myfitnesspal to log my food and it gives you a nice report of all your levels -- protein, fats, carbs, sodium!

That makes sense. What about the fat ratio vs protein ratio? Mine has been about equal (South Beach) which I don't think is quite right...

I would love to join the challenge to lose 20 lbs. by Mothers Day!  I need to lose about 65 lbs., but just got my surge today and this sounds like a great way to get started.  I'll be walking the morning and as much as I can at work.  Looking forward to this group and challenge!

I'm down to the last 10.5 lbs and have shrunk to 5'7" and 150.6 as of 2 days ago. I'm in 10s mostly but like loose tops XL to cover the belly fat! Protein and nutritious greens are important and healthy oil from nuts, & avocado & salmon.

Pushing myself out of my chair this moment to go walk!!!!!!  Brother some days are hard for me to get my 10K steps in.

We can do this.

I keep it around 50 carbs, 25 fat, and 25 protein. I really have to watch the carbs and I try to keep the fats to healthy -- nuts, avocado, some dairy but not too much. I played around with it a bit and still need to be very mindful to reach those goals

Welcome

Good idea to walk each day.

Are you also changing your portion sizes or food choices to lower calories, sugars & carbs?

All the best on your journey.

Great Elansc,

I love it ppppppushing through when we are so close. If I have good music on or call a friend and walk in around at home  and buzz we make it.

On Sat. & Sun. I made myself go out dancing to make it over 10k. On Sat. I was at 4940 when I pushed myself into my car. A good band was playing and I found a corner and danced by myself until the buzzer went off and went home. When the band was on break I walk around the parking lot. Made it. Phew.

Today I got to 10,300 so far at 6:20 pm so no need to push myself thank heaven. It was 2 cardio dance classes that did most of the steps in the AM. Dancing is my favorite way to get my heart stronger.

So finally I was rewarded by hitting 149.5, naked before breakfast, so that broke through 150 barrier. Okay so I didn't understand why it wasn't happening last week but hey now it happened. Seems like there can be a delay for some of us but perservence furthers the Iching says.

Keep at it and don't listen to negative messages from inside or out. All in good time.

Hi!  Count me in!  I "want" to lose 25 by Apr 7 (my 25yr wedding anniversary) - but I'll settle for as much as I can get lol!  Do I "join" by just replying?  I'm not sure how to even add friends on here, lol!  I'm 51(ouch) and am Trying to remember not to just focus on the scale (or the mirror) and focus on my improved fitness - I couldn't run 100 yards when I started, now I can do a 5k (struggling still, but I can do it - and it is getting easier).
