Hi, everyone!
I am Anamarija (25), living in North Carolina and struggling with weight for the past two years. I have 45 lbs (20 kg) to lose. I have a good idea of what should I eat and how much (how, what) to workout, but I have a serious problem with motivation. As soon as I run into a problem, I start struggling with getting back on my path.
How do you find your motivation?
Also, if you have similar goals as I do (40 - 50 lbs to lose, a minimum of 10k steps a day) feel free to add me, maybe we can help each other. //www.fitbit.com/user/3KGQTJ

Hi Anamarija! Sounds like your mind set is a lot like mine. I know what I need to do to get there, now I just need to do it. I sat down yesterday and came up with six goal dates. I'm currnelty weighing in at 204 and would like to get down to 145. That would bring me into the "healthy weight" category.. although to be perfectly honest my "happy weight" is around 160.
Anywho... My Fitbit and seeing how many steps my friends are taking makes me want to get more steps in. I already do the whole park in the back of the parking lot and take the stairs at work, plus we have a two story house. My biggest issues is finding the motivation to exercise that doesn't involve our ping pong table or walking to the kitchen!
I've had my Fitbit since Christmas and it has helped me "move" more, but now I am ready to get serious (I'm turning 35 in a little over a week) and I just want to be healthy!
Happy Stepping!

For me, it's repeat a daily schedule (gym cardio burn, work, insanity max 30, and jenny craig) and love the weight drop and fat percentage drop and be happier I'm aiming for the goals. If I fail, I just look for what I did wrong and correct it to get a better drop. Also knowing what I should not consume helps. Sticking to the dietary regimen my dietitian setup for me and eating extras that I found continues the plummet. And staying away from gimmicky ads (ie: these pills help speed your weight loss).
Been doing it for years, a couple of fails, but restoring my confidence also helps. Knowing to focus on the zeros helps. 0 extra lbs, 8% body fat.

Hey there...
I find the same issues, every day I start with a plan, an every day, I find an excuse why I "can't" do it today.
One thing I have discovered very recently is the book Mini Habits by Stephen Guise. You create a habit that you have to do every day....something so ridiculously mini, you can't break it. He uses the example of a push up every day, my goal is one squat. You start out maybe doing the minimum, but soon you do an extra 5-10-not because your goal has changed, but it becomes just as easy to do 10 as it is to do 1. So you are tricking your brain by allowing yourself to do one and quit, but never really quit. Anyway, he details it a lot better in his book. It is a super quick read, and really made sense to me. I am currently on day 9 of not missing a workout, day 25 of tracking my food, and feeling much better about my choices.
Good Luck to you.

Hi,
I'm looking for similar - trying to lose around 37 pounds to get down to 143 - my goal weight - ideally by Christmas but definitely by next July!
I find I do one or two 'good days' followed by a day where I binge (last night I had a celebration dinner and dessert that topped 1000 calories in one sitting!) even though I went to the gym and hit 17,000 steps in the day.
Would love mutual motivation - maybe add me?
Good luck! Keep me posted - we can do this!

The gym may not be a solution for some of the posters here. I do not care for the gym. I lost 132 pounds by walking outside daily, participated in 5k's, hiking trails, mountain and rock climbing, cross country skiing and running. I am adding wall climbing this summer and snow shoeing this winter. I am interested in the TRX system after I won a free work out from a local gym.
My motivation is the ability to buy clothes anywhere. I bought a beautiful cocktail dress a few months ago. I lost an additional six pounds. I went out to dinner with family and friends last weekend. My man could not keep his eyes off of me. Our mutual friend whom has never seen me in a dress literally almost fell over and told him how lucky he was. I've put on a bikini for the first time ever.
I am also motivated by the ability to go out and enjoy all that life has to offer. There was a point where I could not walk up two flights of stairs without breathing issues.
I do not own a car so if I want to go out, I have to walk. If I have heavy packages or bags, I have to carry them with me. It is a great way to resistance train and maintain a minimalistic lifestyle.

Hello Anamarija, our weight loss goal is similar, I should lose another 45 - 55 lbs by the doctors advice. I was at 212, and now I am at 188.
My motivation is the goals set, and keeping them realistic.
10 flights of stairs was impossible, but I am able to do this daily now for the last week, and yesterday while I was waiting for my dinner to cook, I did extra on our upstairs steps, taking me to 25. Felt really good to get the positive feedback with the badge and go past some of my friends.
Just keep moving, and you will get there.

If you are a visual person you could buy a piece of clothing that you REALLY REALLY like one size smaller than your current size. Keep it in a place where you will see it all the time. For me, looking better in clothes and wearing smaller sizes is a huge motivator. I always have a "goal" dress that is just one size smalller. It sounds stupid but it works for me.
