My husband is in the military and has been deployed since late Jan, he should be back sometime in June my aim was to hit the 209lb mark before he got back but that's looking less realistic after some busy scary weeks with my 2 year old having a cancer scare but as a mini goal I want to be under 216lb by the start of June, then I will be 2st off since he deployed. I have a school reunion in July and my graduation in October so lots to work towards this year!
How are you all doing? What are your goals?

Barbara,
Great job and making your 10k steps in spite of the evil dry roasted peanuts (I love them too). You're so close to hitting your goal and I know you can do it. So keep on dancing!

I readjusted my calorie intake today. I've been very diligent in my tracking, but I found I'm eating almost all my calories back!! I set my calorie take for about 1600. From what I can tell, fitbit gave me 1950 calories to eat, and would increase that depending on my activity. I haven't been losing anything and am hoping the calorie adjustment will help!

Hi everyone!
I am still at the same weight I was late in May... sigh. But TTOM and my chocolate cravings would account for that.
Not giving up though. I just keep doing the best I can. Walking more than 7.5k steps a day with an office job is kinda difficult for me, but tomorrow I should get some more steps in as I have a doctors appointment that I can walk to and from.

Try it for a week, or just a few days. You could also go back and forth between 1600 as a minimum and 1950 as a maximum... giving yourself some room, as life happens.
Let us know how things are going!!!

Hi Friends, I figured out yesterday that being a school bus driver is fabulous for getting lots of steps. Everytime I go down the road I get credit for several hundred steps because of the bumpyness of the bus. I also get lots of stairs. I wish it were that easy. I am now trying to remember to take off the fitbit while I am on the bus. I'm sure it will be way more challenging to get my steps and stairs from now on. I am making myself get at least 10,000 a day which is a challenge for a non exerciser like me. I walk for 45 minutes on one of my brakes and finish up what is left on my treadmill at home before I go to bed.
I wanted to let you know my daughter who is a nutrition expert says that using whole psyllium husks in your smoothies will make a big difference also chia seeds they help everything move very easily and faster. I have been using them since mothers day when I got my nutribullet and they work for me. Worth a try. I use a heaping Tbs of psyllium and 1 heaping tsp of chia seeds.
Thanks for being there for me. peggyjane

Being on office worker does suck for steps during the day! I find that I can add steps by walking to someone's office rather than calling - going to the bathroom that's furthest away from me - not saving everything to take at one time.
I think it really depends on how leinent your job is to your being away from your desk - I also park further away in the morning - which stunk this morning because of rain!!
I had to fill in for the receptionist a couple of weeks ago and that was TERRIBLE!! I kept forgetting I couldn't just get up and wander off - LOL. My steps were barely over 4,000.
I just got an email today that my new fitbit is coming (Thank GAWD) so I'm looking forward to seeing how much I'm walking! My goal is 10,000 per day - that doesn't sound like a lot but I was surprised I wasn't hitting it every day. I believe I had three days out of weeks that I went over 10,000. Wearing it will make it easier to gage!!
Good luck to all ya'll w/your goals!!

Hi Trish and Fitbitters,
wonderful Trish on the next 2 lb loss.
I'm helping my sister remodel her kitchen. Mostly we have been tearing up floors and down plaster and lath walls. Exhausted most nights, spending lots of energy but not always making 10 k steps.
Oops dinner is served.
We can do this is right.

Starvation mode does not happen during a few days it is a reaction to longer term starvation. People fast for a day or 1/2 a day with no slowing of metabolism. If you are exercing especially High intensity your metabolism is up. This immediate starvation mode is a myth. I eat 1100-1350 cal. most days and lose weight just fine. Sometimes I skip a meal also but not regularly.
Research the source of starvation mode myth.
Take care and keep on burning off those fat lbs.

Hooray AmbitiousGirl,
How inspiring that you are choosing good nutrition. Keep it up and you may even beat your goal like Trish did by 2 extra lbs.
I'm down on step numbers but high on energy burning helping destroy a kitchen for remodel.
When I get home on Saturday I will up my steps. Usually too exhausted when I get back from using a hammer, chisel and crow bar and hauling out wood.
Keep up the stellar changes,
Barbara
