4th July weight loss! Post your goals

Hi all,

After a couple of these keeping me on track ish since mid jan i thought i would start another one, hoping some of you will join me

SW 244LB

CW 230LB

GW 209LB

My husband is in the military and has been deployed since late Jan, he should be back sometime in June my aim was to hit the 209lb mark before he got back but that's looking less realistic after some busy scary weeks with my 2 year old having a cancer scare but as a mini goal I want to be under 216lb by the start of June, then I will be 2st off since he deployed. I have a school reunion in July and my graduation in October so lots to work towards this year!

How are you all doing? What are your goals?

You may not be able to hit your goal for the wedding but one thing I am
sure about. If you continue down the right road of eating healthy and
exercising up until that day (and hopefully after), you will feel a
whole lot better at the wedding than if you don't. Hang in there. You
will feel great and sometimes feeling great is just as important if not
more important than looking great.

I used to take Yoga from a very wise Yoga instructor that taught at
Kripalu in Massachusetts. I always said to her "Mia, I just want to do
it so bad". She said to me if you are pushing your body to the max and
the person next to you is in a pretzel position but NOT pushing her/his
body to the max, then you are doing yoga and she/he is not". Yoga is
pushing your body just a bit further than it is used to. That helped me
so much and I'm hoping that advice will help you to realize that if you
ARE pushing your body to the max, then you ARE good at it.

Tenku,

Congrats on your weight loss in just 4 months! Amazing!

I would really like to know what you eat and/or what other things you have done to lose so much weight in such a short period of time?

Thanks.

It's pretty simple, because I'm a pretty simple guy....

Exercise daily...walk 5-10 miles, 30-60 minutes of Yoga daily, 60 situps twice daily

Tomorrow is my 4 month anniversary, and I will hit 1,000 miles on my morning walk..

I allow myself to eat anything, but I have to enter the calories, so things I'm not sure of the calories, well I don't eat that....

I have been averaging about 1000-1200 calories, so that doughnut or slice of pizza means I get to eat a lot less for the day...

I've pretty much quit eating (and these were my favorites) Peanut Butter, Whole Milk, Sourdough and French Bread, Red Meat, Potato Chips, and instead use Walden Farms 0 calorie peanut spread, and dressings, and mayos, Unsweetened Almond Milk, MorningStar Farms Soy products and Low Calorie Bread (and not a lot of these...)

Haven't been in a fast food joint at all, and have only eaten out 3 times, and always opted for a salad after thinking about calorie counts...

Just your basic diet and exercise......

Love the "4 stupid lbs..." I have had that feeling 3 lbs that seem to leap back on my belly over a few weeks. This AM I kicked them off and hit 141.7 and I must not eat more at 11:40 PM tonight or they will be peering up from the scale in the AM, perhaps jeering at me. ( A little dramatic fantasy) I wanted to hit 140 but if I can stay 141 or less on the 4th I'll be plenty pleased.

I'm in the normal BMI range so this is a process to get off the last 2-5 pounds and boy is it a challenge for me in spite of lots of steps.

I eat mostly veggies, a little salmon, occassionally some turkey or chicken at my son's house. I eat a little cheese and some eggs. Healthy eating gives me lots of energy and low BP, blood sugar and only a little osteoporosis, right on the border or osteopenia.

Enough said. Off to sleep so I can function tomorrow.

Happy July 3rd. We are getting healthy and fit and that will make us happier and keep those chronic diseases at bay.

Be strong folks,

Barbara G

Woo hoo. 2 days in a row  in the 141 range. Made it to 141.1 this AM in my birthday suit before breakfast so if I'm super good today I will get to 140. something in the AM tomorrow maybe. I'm stoked about the new low already. Tummy is shrinking but very slowly in spite of being in the normal BMI range. Man oh man I just wear loose tops outside my jeans or slacks and dance my head off. This aging is not for sissies they say and I have come to agree with them. Far too many wrinkles on my skin but what the heck healthy at 74 is such a blessing. Find something active that you love to do and do it often. Life is good so breathe, enjoy the journey and count your blessings. Listing things, even small things, that you feel grateful for helps a lot to lift our spirits and helps us take good care of ourselves.

We can do this my wonderful challenger buddies. Just one day here more and then come to the Labor Day challenge as it has supportive folks chatting already.

Piles of support to you all,

Barbara G

Guys tend to lose weight faster due to testosterone levels and more muscle mass. I say that to remind us older women not to compare to you and be discouraged if we lose more slowly.  Congrats. on your accomplishment. You are on your way to much better health with your food choices. I agree that eating out is a challenge and I go for the salads, too. I get the low cal dressing on the side so I can control the amount I put on.

Join us on the Labor Day challenge as well.

Yes the cookies are beautiful but I see them as art not food.

I think of sugar as addictive poison as it increases cancer and chronic disease rates when it is consumed at American Diet rates. We can get free of it`s grip by staying away for it for 3-4 weeks as the cravings usually lessen. Don't keep it around, and substitute healthy food, a piece of fruit, a few nuts, or tall glass of water. Walk away and a new habit is formed. Careful of artificial sweetners as they cause sugar cravings.

Size 14 is a huge change from 20 that is for sure. Glad that you are doing so well and your wedding pictures will show it. Your medical numbers for BP, HDL, BG will too.

Stay strong,

Barb

I hear you!!! I'm a teacher, and the stress eating is my downfall. My colleagues are all in the same boat, and instead of helping each other, we just seem to encourage each other. One thing that really worked this year was doing a Biggest Loser competition for the last 6 weeks. That's when I do the worst stress eating and drinking. Even though only a handful of people lost weight, no one gained during that time. I want to encourage people to do that next year at the end of both semesters, since it's awful around the holidays, too. Good luck!

I have been driving nearly every day since last Saturday, over 5,000 km. I haven't been able to weigh myself, had to eat on-the-road crap and didn't get my 2-hrs at the gym or steps most days (8-10 hrs of driving will do that). We are finally at the destination and I brought my juicer and my scale, do I'll know my damage tomorrow am. I did wear a bathing suit to a water park and walked stairs all day to ride the slides. My size 16 bathing suit was sagging in the butt and boobs so that made me feel a bit better, it used to be very tight. Tomorrow I can start back at the gym as my university's b&b has a small one downstairs. My courses start on Monday for 3 weeks and I hope the stress doesn't derail me!

Yes I am trying to be active here in NH on vacation, but my host is rather inactive, so I am happy to report that I've not gained anything this week, despite of lots of food and little exercise.

Hi Shorts,

Breath deeply and get a size 14 bathing suit. Do something to release your stress daily. Glad you made it to your destination in one piece.
