Hi all,

After a couple of these keeping me on track ish since mid jan i thought i would start another one, hoping some of you will join me

My husband is in the military and has been deployed since late Jan, he should be back sometime in June my aim was to hit the 209lb mark before he got back but that's looking less realistic after some busy scary weeks with my 2 year old having a cancer scare but as a mini goal I want to be under 216lb by the start of June, then I will be 2st off since he deployed. I have a school reunion in July and my graduation in October so lots to work towards this year!

How are you all doing? What are your goals?

Would love some great tips about controlling my sweet tooth.

Working toward five pounds by the 4th. I just started using the fitbit HR and love it!! I lose weight very slowly and a five pound goal is realistic. Starting at 234.

Gained .4 lbs...yesterday morning I was 229.9, so I'm hoping most of this is water retention post-hibachi dinner. (Yesterday I hit my 20 lb loss mark! Too bad I messed that up within 24 hours.) Whoever says calories don't count on your birthday is not to be trusted!

My plans for Zumba last night were cancelled when my fiance took the day off work to spend the evening with me. Couldn't really pass that up. I'll be walking my butt off (literally) during my lunch hour today.

Just had one of those days- crisis at work, with a friend, with a family member. Only walked 1 mile (and ate 2 cupcakes). In the virtual walk, I'm almost done with the first section, though!
The activity that seems impossible today, will soon be your warm-up

Hi Bobbi

One of those days to forget! Sounds brutal. Sorry to read of some many conflicts.

Tomorrow no yucky cupcakes and your 4.4 miles to make your 10K instead. That should put things right.

All the very best,

Barbara G

LOL about the calories don't count on your birthday.  Hope thoses ozs melted away from walking it off.

I just ate too many dry roasted peanuts at my sister's house. Made my 10k steps though on top of working my butt off remodeling a fixer upper in TN.

Have a great day and stay strong,

hi mbell

Sweet tooth is a sugar addiction. Don't bring it home. It is like dope it feels good in the moment and pay later. Diabetes stinks and that is what high sugar consumption causes because the cells become insulin resistence.

Remind yourself that you don't want diabetes type 2 which we create by too much sugar and refind carbs.

Hope this helps.

Have a piece of fruit or some protein.

Best of health to you,

Barbara g

Drama and Cupcakes sadly are part of our lives. Sorry to hear it hit you yesterday!!

It's a new day today and you are doing GREAT with your trail! I am just about 75% into my first "etape" of the Camino Trail and just about to cross the french/spanish border 🙂

Chananigans - birthdays are there to celebrate! And if you had rice at the hibachi diner ... that would explain the tiny gain! I always feel that rice stays with me for 4-5 days. It soaks up tons of more water (that's at least my imagination) and takes forever to move through. So... don't despair!

Happy belated Birthday!!!

Oh yes, the sweet tooth. I have that too.

I've been losing weight since January and in the beginning I couldnt imagine a day without desert at night. So (even though it's crappy food and totally yucky) I got myself J-ello Cups and a tub of low fat Cool Whip. Every night I would have 2 jello cups and 80 cal worth of Cool Whip right out of the freezer. That's 100 cal and if you eat more than that you get awfully sick because it's so terribly sweet! LOL

After a while I didnt have this every night but only a few times a week. And now I look at my leftover cool whip and jello cups and wonder how I could ever....

Now it's cut up strawberries - even if it's a whole clamshell full still better for you. And if it's really bad I go and get a small Lindt Chocolate Bar. They are really thin and have 200 cal per bar. (I think 1 oz). I never keep more than 2 at home.

Personally I believe that chocolate is part of life. But the trick is to be happy with as little as possible. And that's what I am learning on this journey.

All the best!

Thanks Mermaid! I had very little rice! In fact, I'm having my leftovers - where all the rice is - today. I only had a banana yesterday (I seriously wasn't hungry the whole day...which NEVER happens). Dropped back down to 231.7. I've been successful in avoiding all the office treats (pies, cookies, etc.) with the exception of my birthday goodies. The cookie cake had my name on it, so I felt like I should have a little!

It is national donut day today and I'm trying to figure out if I can allocate my daily calories appropriately to have one for breakfast. Did 21K steps yesterday, so I won't be mad at myself for having a little!

Virtual walk update: Completed Stage 1, 80% done with Stage 2. 7% done with the Florida Keys trail. (I had to go back and edit this...forgot to count 6/3!)

Keep it up, everyone! 🙂

Hello everyone!

Have been using Fitbit Charge HR since the end of March.  Delighted with my weight loss so far, but would like to lose at least another 7lbs before the middle of July, so I can wear my favourite swimsuits on holiday.

Hi Chananigans,

Sounds like you are doing great.

There is a separate discussion called virtual walk.  I'm on segment 2 but only .08!  Have got to pick it up!

I did do strength training today though.  I turned down cupcakes.  (that should be worth at least 2 pounds,  no?)

Definitely worth 2 lbs! I'm at 20,040 steps so far today, but I plan on getting a few more before updating the virtual walk. I'll post my progress in the other discussion. 🙂
