4th July weight loss! Post your goals

Hi all,

After a couple of these keeping me on track ish since mid jan i thought i would start another one, hoping some of you will join me

SW 244LB

CW 230LB

GW 209LB

My husband is in the military and has been deployed since late Jan, he should be back sometime in June my aim was to hit the 209lb mark before he got back but that's looking less realistic after some busy scary weeks with my 2 year old having a cancer scare but as a mini goal I want to be under 216lb by the start of June, then I will be 2st off since he deployed. I have a school reunion in July and my graduation in October so lots to work towards this year!

How are you all doing? What are your goals?

Yahoo for me today. The scale hit 142.3 the lowest in a while and that was in spite of my son's birthday party. I ate lots of salad, hummus, a little chicken, only 1 drink and danced. I gardened in the AM and only ate go lean cereal and a few handfuls of cashews.

How nice it was to see 142 looking up at me from the scale.

Off to the airport soon to go help remodel or repair a fixer upper my sister has to move into Aug. 1.

I think in spite of heat we will be burning cals. so I hope to avoid regaining lbs..

Best of luck and courage in the face of temptations,

Barbara G

I'm starting late!! I have 34 days until July 4th - hmmm.... I don't want to get too caught up in numbers so I'm going to say 5% down by then. My starting weight is 230 so 11 pounds?

Hi all,

SW 189 (Jan.)

CW 176

GW (for July 4) 170

I seem to keep getting injuries - first a torn tendon in my foot, then a pulled back muscle...very discouraging.  That said, I am back to walking again.  After the first injury I gradually increased and just reached 10,000 steps in one day!  I'm taking it easier for 2 days and then will try it again.

Barbara, congrats on the 142!  More important (to me) is that you are so active.  Very impressive.  You are my role model.  I hope your visit/house reno goes well.  It's great for using other muscles.

Motivation:

I have an idea.  Since it is very hot/muggy here and I will be going back to a treadmill (boring) I was thinking of doing a virtual hike.  That means, I plan a route, and as I walk and add up steps, I mark my progress along the way.  I think it will help me stay motivated to do more.  i.e. if I am half way around a lake, I want to get all the way around.  Somehow seeing my progess on a map, and being able to see a film of my walk, might be the extra push I need now. You can either watch the film as you walk on a treadmill, or you can just look at the map to see where you are for that day. If a few of us do it, we can encourage each other to "catch up", or just go a bit more.

I'm thinking that for 5 weeks, if we do about 3-4 miles daily, (some do more) we can pick a trail that is about 150 miles.  I found one, the Lake Tahoe trail, is 170 miles.  We may not finish by July 4, but, well, that just means we keep walking afterwards.

Anyone interested?

Hi everyone!

My name is Birgit and I am late in the game, but still would like to join!

I've been losing 33 lbs since January, with a bit of a write off in April since I had to be on medication that made me gain weight / stopped my weight loss. 😞

Now I am back on track but things are stalling a little.

I am going to visit my friend in the US on July 4th for my first ever Independence Day Experience. We will be spending lots of time at the beach in New Hampshire... enough reasons for a little challenge!

In the past months my mean loss per month was 8 lbs and that's what I am aiming for in June. Getting below the 240!

I'm starting the virtual walk of the Florida Keys (shortest one I could find) tomorrow, June 3.  I figure, as long as I'm doing all this walking, I'll see how far I could have gotten.  I find that motivating.  (as in, hey, I reached Key West today!)

Let me know if you are doing it too so we can compare where we are and encourage each other.

Ohhhh thats such a great idea!!! I didnt even think of picking a "real" trail!!

Mmmhh.... I live in Ontario, so the Bruce Trail would be perfect! Starting in Niagara and going north to the Bruce Peninsula. But it's not part of the list at www.walking4fun.com.

So I picked the Camino Trail from France to Portugal/Spain. Being from Europe it's the next best choice. 🙂

There is another discussion group under weight loss called "virtual hike starts 6/3".  I know there is a way to form a group in the hiking web page (walk4fun.com), but I haven't figured that out yet.  They set it up so we can see each other's place along the way.

Thank you Bobbinyc & Joan (and happy birthday to you too, Joan)!

Hope you are able to survive the sugary birthday madness. I have not been able to escape from all the carb-filled goodies from my thoughtful coworkers...I've had a (gluten-free but still unhealthy) donut, salad, chili, fruit, kettle chips, and part of a cookie cake thus far...needless to say, I am done eating for the day - and it's only 1:30!

The good news is that as of today, I'm officially down 20.1 lbs from my highest weight. Tomorrow's my 2-week weigh-in, but I'm not having high hopes that it will still start with a 2!

Hope you feel better, Joan! I'm on the tail end of a week-long illness and it is NOT fun! Hang in there and drink plenty of tea. 🙂

My highest weight was 256

My current weight is 171.5

My goal weight is 160

I have been on a weight loss journey since 2008 - I joined Tops (taking off lbs sensibly) and over the years I have slowly reached a healthier me.  I'm looking to take off the last 11.5 lbs and have purchased a fitbit a day ago to help me reach my fitness goals.
