Hello and welcome to the forums @friendofbillw . Which Fitbit are you using? You're bones, muscles and lots of water and blood, too. First, be kind to yourself. You've started a journey to a healthier lifestyle and you're not alone. Remember it's not something you'll do all at once, but every day you'll be making choices that will add up to your success.

@friendofbillw I'm using the Luxe. Nice stepping today! Just don't try to step so much that you're exhausted. Baby steps and you'll get there.

@friendofbillw fasting is good, but only when it's done properly for you. Have you talked to your health care professional so that you're not making too high an expectation of yourself?

Now @friendofbillw stop that! You're not 230 pounds of lard, you have muscles, sinew, blood, tissues, organs and more. You are doing great and not letting anything keep you from your goal.

@friendofbillw I'd ask my health care professional to be sure, as they see you. NIH is just the basics. If you're trying to lose weight, then that many calories would be too many. Always check a few places but listen to your own body. You can do this!

As you know it's one day at a time, one meal at a time and one workout at a time. Compassion for yourself is key. Do what you can, when you can. I find if I focus on quality food sources, the calories sort themselves out. I think we tend to eat way too many carbs. I cut my carb portions way down and focus on lean meat and veggies. I'm 5'9" and went from 265 to 205, during the pandemic. It can be done.
