I am new to fitbit forums, I would like to propose this 5 week challenge as a way to stay focused for the next 5 weeks.
My thought is that anyone who wants to participate set their own goal for the challenge based on his/her particular situation.
I personally would like to lose 10 pounds during the 5 weeks, based on whatever my starting weight is on Monday 5/30.
I have found this kind of accountability to be motivational in the past.
Thanks, Sue

Thank you all for your interest! I am new to the forums and I didn't realize that there is already an ongoing group doing periodic challenges. Since it is an established group that is accepting new participants for this next 5 week period, I thought we could all join this challenge instead of having this redundant/parallel challenge going on. Again, thanks very much for all your interest and I look forward to following you all in the above challenge. Sue

just one simple question - what happens after the 5 weeks?

Move on to the next goal of course. Short term goals help me get where I am going. As ultra runner Anne Trason says "sometimes I just run from tree to tree".
You don't have to participate if it isn't your thing. I appreciate your positivity and encouragement! This forum is all about support.

Personally, I like much longer plans when comes to training.
4-8 months for muscle, 4-8 weeks for extreme fat loosing or 3-6 months for stable fat loosing.
I was curious what next since I never had any of that type of training.
Nonetheless, I wish all of you best of luck.

I am new to fitbit as well. I have lost 6 pounds already but I would like to lose 17 more so 10 pounds in the next 5 weeks would be great! I'm in!

Sounds great to me! 10 pounds in 5 weeks seems doable to me. How does the accountability part work? And would we start a group of participants?

I'm in. Just got my fitbit today. So I'm a newbie. My goal is 22 lbs in 5 weeks. Am I taking on too much?

Normally, safe weight loss is considered to be 1 or 2 pounds per week. You are looking at almost 4.5 pounds per week. It may be pretty tough keeping up that much weight loss week after week.
