50 lb goal

Hi all.  Glad to be here.  Little about me.  I'm 47, retired from the Navy after 22 years of service.  Met and married my wonderful husband a couple months after I retired.  He's also in the Navy.  I have two kids from my first marriage and they are 26 (f) and 21 (m).

Since retiring and meeting the man of my dreams, I have been fighting my weight for various reasons.  No longer having to fit in my uniform and pass semi annual physical fitness tests has made me a bit lazy.  My husband prefers a "thick" woman and I've sort of allowed that to be my cruch.  At 5'2 I was almost 200 lbs when we came back from a cruise to Alaska.  I'm used to being 115 of solid muscle.  When reality set in that I had let myself get so far out of shape I decided to fix it.  My husband has been supportive but I know there's one thing that he would be upset over if I lost a lot of weight so we struck a deal.

I got back to 150 by July 13.  My goal was 120 because I had set a date for surgery and wanted to be at a good weight before.  I wasn't there but there was no going back on the surgery.  Had my operation on 3 Jul 13 and wasn't allowed to workout for 6 months.  Needless to say...I'm back up to 180 thanks to that and some other things.

So enough is enough and this will be my last time to do this.  I am set to go and highly motivated to see my goal of at least 130.

I would love some fit bit weight loss pal friends so please feel free to add me!  My Fitbit surge arrives tomorrow and I will be in the gym starting Tues.

Hello! Nice to meet you!

I also need to lose a minimum of 50lbs, more like 70 but 50 would be great before my Birthday in October.  What fitbit did you decide on? I have the Charge HR and the Aria scale. Love both of them. So far since the 7th of this month I have lost 3 lbs. Lets keep each other motivated!

I love the scale because it automatically syncs with my computer and fitbit, it also measures body fat %.  It makes weighing in so much easier. It is also has pretty accurate scale too, not one of those weigh yourself 3x and get different numbers each time. looks pretty too. Oh and bonus points it tells you the battery life on fitbit too. So much cool stuff.

3lbs since Thursday is awesome! Keep going!

Hi  there

I am sort of in the same situation as you.  Turning 46 next month, 5 foot 4, with 2 kids (younger than yours, 9 and 11), and have been fighting my weight for what seems like forever.  I battle a number of medical issues including migraines and fibromyalgia which effect my ability to work out as much as i would like to, if even at all..  In November i hit my highest weight ever, and cant go back there.  I have had 5 surgeries in the last 6 years, including one 10 days ago. All have involved multiple day stays in the hospital and weeks of recovery.  ANYWAY, long story short.....i my goal is to lose a minumum of 50 lbs this year, and i would love to be able to have someone who is in a similar situation (age, height, weight) as me that can help me be accountable.  I have a fitbit one that i recieved for xmas and love, and before that i had a flex, which was also great.....they (usually) help keep me motivated  🙂

First off, thank you for your service. As an Army Wife myself, I truly cannot thank you enough for everything you have sacrificed.

Feel free to add me. The challenges that Fitbit allows are AMAZING motivators. I'm such a competitive person, the challenges make me get up off of my butt more so I can beat the people in each group.

Good morning all and thanks for the responses.  Been using my surge now for 3 days.  Love it.  I wish it wasn't as wide.  They need to make a woman's version.  I'm down 5 lbs since Thursday.  Look forward to chatting with you all.

I've opted to skip the scale.  My scale does bf and weight it just doesn't talk to my computer.

You all have a Fit Day 🙂

I am with you.  I'm 5"2' and I had knee surgery in April.  After I had my youngest daughter I lost 30 lbs when I decided to try AdvoCare.  AdvoCare was working great for me and my Husband but when I had knee surgery it just threw everything off for me and I felt so worthless that I just gave up on everything.  I'm ready to just start over and get back into a routine again.  I'm getting ready to start over with another AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge to get me back on track.  I will be starting on Monday!  I'm excited to get back to feeling great and losing more weight again.  I want to be an inspiration for my kids to be healthy and active as well as keeping my Husband active and eating right.  I want to be around for many many years for my kids so now is the time!

I have finally been cleared from physical therapy and have been given the OK to rollerblade again!  I'm not supposed to run or play sports yet but I can bike, walk, and rollerblade so let's do this!

Did you meet your goal?

I'm waiting for my new fitbit to arrive and look forward to tracking again. I was on the Ideal Protein diet program but it's expensive and I kept cancelling weigh-ins because we are short staffed at work due to summer vacations. I'm going to try to continue with my weight loss on my own, using fitbit.

I also have issues with migraines and I will never be a high stepper due to limitations caused my an injury and resulting surgeries.
